Private area for GM Zadraes that is periodically available to players at the GM's discretion.

Fountain

[Zadraes's Island, Fountain]
The imposing silhouette of a fountain often startles those unfamiliar with the island and its architect's quirks. A nippy breeze eerily whistles through a nearby tree as the steady roll of the sea upon the beach echoes well into the night. A few well-placed benches provide the local lunar mage, or any of his stargazing friends, an adequate resting place to gaze upon the heavens during a clear summer's night.
You also see a modest hangout and a dark blue-and-purple spiraling vortex.
Obvious paths: west.

A grand fountain:

Towering above the benches and nearly as tall as the tree, the fountain depicts an elderly mage, gently cradling a massive tome in one hand and a mighty staff in the other. The flowing water cascades from the top of the mage's staff and collects in a pool beneath the raised platform the mage stands upon.

The fountain's pool:

Unless a strong breeze is blowing, the complete calm of the gentle pool is the antithesis of the ever rolling tides of the nearby sea. Though not overly deep, it still manages to hold a few fish.

Some excited tropical fish:

Exotic fish of all kinds populate the small pool. The smaller, more energetic fish often team up to provoke a larger and elder fish, creating their own form of sharks and guppies.

An aged tree:

Gnarled and twisted, the aged tree still dutifully provides ample shading for those wanting a peaceful nap during a hot summer's day. Stray seagulls take short breaks in the tree's canopy before continuing their long journeys home.

Beach

[Zadraes's Island, Beach]
Dangerous obstacles are scattered all about the beach. A bruised knee or even a broken toe isn't entirely out of the question here for those not gifted with keen sight at night. A gentle breeze sometimes tousles the few remaining leaves in the treetop, and other times finds a hole in one of the older branches to howl through.
Obvious paths: east, northwest.

A tall tree:

Whatever this tree used to be is hardly discernable these days. Most of its lower branches have been hacked away, and the higher branches barely display leaves at all.

Beach

[Zadraes's Island, Beach]
Were it not for the eccentricities and paranoia of the mage, this would be a prime spot to toss out a blanket and gaze up at the heavens on a clear night. The beach is largely undisturbed, the chill wind is blocked by the house and the incessant glow of Ratha's nearby shores are blocked as well. Closer inspection reveals small threads crisscrossing the entirety of the nearby beach, most cleverly hidden just beneath the sands -- likely traps and alarms to put the mage at ease.
Obvious paths: southeast.

A mound of sand:

Close to the house, the sands rise and fall in mounds at the whim of the ocean's winds. Near the water, though, elegant swirls and patterns grace the beach that no mere mortal could ever create. Numerous sea shells glint in the sand all across the beach.

Some sea shells:

As the sun makes its travels every day, so to does the ocean exact its own cycles. Countless shells have accumulated over the years on the beach, solely at the whim of the great sea.

Entry

[Zadraes's Hangout, Entry]
A chime just outside the entry arch hums melodically at the slightest whisper of the wind. The confined space of this small room could serve little purpose other than greeting visitors and wishing them safe travels. The only furnishings, if they could be called that, are a tattered floor mat and two small potted almagarus plants -- one on either side of a large steel door that leads to an office area.
Obvious exits: east, west, out.

A tattered mat:

Badly worn and terribly filthy, the remains of what used to be a very artistic mat has almost reached the end of its days.

Some potted almagarus plants:

One of the current plants boasts a massive purple blossom worthy of a prize, while the other looks as if it will burst into bloom any day now.

A steel door:

Carefully crafted and armed with numerous locking mechanisms, there is little question that this door leads to a private area. Many discussions with the Realm's leaders have taken place behind these doors, and few were pleasant discussions.
It is open.

Office

[Zadraes's Hangout, Office]
In stark contrast to the rest of the home, the office raises many questions about the mage who created it. Elegant walls of blue-veined black marble eerily reflect the dim glow of an unseen magical light. A scent of sea spray lingers in the air from the occasional breeze that squeezes under the oft-closed door. Isolated in one corner is a well preserved wooden desk. A heavy obsidian table, perfectly placed to function as a footrest, sits near a cushiony three-seated couch.
Obvious exits: none.

A massive tome atop a well preserved desk:

Aged and delicate from the damp conditons, much of the tome's artwork on the cover has faded.
There appears to be something written on it.

A massive tome reads:
DragonRealms Policy and Other Important Things

Meditation Room

[Zadraes's Hangout, Meditation Room]
The flickering light from hundreds of candles strewn about the room dances playfully upon the hardwood floors as it is reflected from a massive window along the western wall. Colored pillows lie scattered about the room.
Obvious exits: east.

  • The window looks out to the Beach

A yellow pillow:

This little ray of sunshine sees the most use during the cool months of the winter, when the meditating mage seeks reminders of the more pleasant sunny days of summer.

A blue pillow:

The vibrant crystal blue pillow resembles the clear ocean water on a warm summer's day. As many meditation sessions as this pillow has already seen, it will see even more before needing replacing, a testament to the quality the mage demands within his home.

A stack of colored pillows:

Many pillows are stacked in two piles in the northeast corner of the room. One pile is noticeably light colors -- yellows, greens and whites -- while the other pile has several dark colored pillows.

Kitchen

[Zadraes's Hangout, Kitchen]
The clanking of crashing pots and pans mixed with frequent curses that should never be repeated alert visitors that a meal is being prepared. The stench of an often ruined main dish aside, the aromas of exotic herbs and spices permeate nearby rooms when a particularly strong breeze blows through. For all the disasters this kitchen sees on a daily basis, the stove, counters, and cabinets appear remarkably clean and well maintained.
Obvious exits: north, west.

Private Study

[Zadraes's Hangout, Private Study]
Countless cabinets of wicker shelves line every wall of the small study from floor to ceiling. Though many contain an excess of tomes and scrolls, others contain small trinkets from the owner's travels. Unlike most others that have been cluttered with the various baubles, one cabinet has several glass bottles lying upon their sides neatly stacked one to a shelf. Aside from a large fur rug, several colored pillows, and the shelves upon the walls, this room is completely unfurnished. You also see a tan wicker cabinet with several things on it and a beige wicker shelf.
Obvious exits: south.

A tan wicker cabinet:

Taking a closer look, you notice that contained within each of the overturned glass bottles is a near perfect replica of many of the realm's ships and ferries.

An overturned glass bottle atop a tan wicker cabinet (#1):

The mighty Skirr'lolasu, joiner of Ratha and Crossing, has been captured in striking detail. From stem to stern every sail, rigging, and even a miniature Captain Nilfren has been perfectly replicated.

An overturned glass bottle atop a tan wicker cabinet (#2):

The Kree'la is displayed with all the armaments expected of such a vessel that travels the pirate infested Reshael Sea. The craftsman of this replica went so far as to create a red-sailed schooner moored to the Kree'la's port side. Tiny pirates and crew members of the Kree'la stand ready with weapons drawn for the coming battle.

An overturned glass bottle atop a tan wicker cabinet (#3):

Though not nearly as detailed as the contents of other bottles because of their minute sizes, this one contains replicas of the ferries and barges used throughout Therengia. Most notable are "The Desert Wind" and "The Suncatcher", which seem to have crashed into one another.

A large bottle atop a tan wicker cabinet.:

Apparently a favorite of the owner, this large bottle contains an entire scene rather than a ship alone. Showcased is The Night Sky, complete with a Captain Spigle miniature, moored to the Taisgath dock. Created perfectly to scale, a delicate model of the entire island of Taisgath, with both the Obelisk and the Guildhall, sits just behind the ship.

A beige wicker shelf:

Countless scrolls are scattered haphazardly through these shelves with no apparent organization. Spell scrolls are mixed with song scrolls while historical scrolls are mixed with enchanter's scrolls.

A white wicker shelf:

Massive tomes in many languages cover this shelf from top to bottom. With the unoganized placement and the sheer size of some of the tomes, one might wonder how these simple wicker shelves could support such a dreadful weight.
