Who says they can't control sorcery?

And I'm fairly sure the Gods are a-okay with LOTS of things that don't edify them. Necromancy actively offends them.

Society and the Gods are totally different matters.

Society doesn't like sorcery much at all. That's why there's all sorts of ways for sorcery to throw you in jail. But that's society, not the Gods doing that.
