It's unrelated to the frequency length, which itself is mostly a metaphor to describe that higher mana resonates with increasingly ephemeral ("small and quick") forces while lower mana resonates with increasingly physical ("big and slow") forces. For what it's worth, though, Holy cycles much quicker than Life.

For mana flux, we want a cyclic event that spreads the entire range of the flux evenly. Basing it on the gods' holy days is the most intuitive way to do it that meets those requirements.
