If other players are actively trying bring down critters in the room, it is definitely not OK to ripple the critters away. I am not going to split hairs over when it is and isn't OK to use ripple, but people who wreck invasions with ripple are likely to get a stern talking to at a minimum. There have been some event-related invasions where ripple was the only viable option, or at least useful in some special situations. Those are exceptions.
