Hey guys -

After a lot of deliberation, beer and soft weeping, we've come up with the new formula for TDPs.

Let's call these the "Main Skills":

top 3 from the primary skillset
top 3 from each secondary skillset
top 3 from the combined tertiary skills

And all other skills "Alternate Skills".

Main Skills will increase your TDPs at a rate of 125 ranks / TDP. Alternate Skills will increase your TDPs at a rate of 400 ranks / TDP.

We have a lot more data points on these formulas, and the distributions are generally a LOT better - I think there was a bug somewhere in my calculations about the original formula's numbers because when I ran them under my new testing framework the distributions were much worse than originally predicted.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that there are still people that will go into TDP debt from this - Largely the same people that were hurting the most from the original formula. However, for those people, their suffering has been reduced by approximately 45%. The only equations that led to everybody having equal or more TDPs to before caused such incredibly high TDP gains for others that it was really just unconscionable.

Hopefully the new formula alleviates people's concerns that they're losing their mechanical benefit from broadening their character, as well as focusing on the goals that were stated in the post a few hours ago.
