Yes, you can purchase several and swap them at will on the exterior of your home. And yes, only one can be used on the exterior at a time.
Also, as the sign indicates in each room of the shop, there are different ones for knolls (built into the ground), treehouses (built in a tree), free standing homes (cabins, manors, etc.), and doors (apartment/dorm type) and they are not interchangable between the types of homes they go on. --GM Jhustis
You can remove the decoration from your home with REMOVE (home type) and they will be turned into a parchment scroll that can be stored and used again, if you choose.
