Allye plucks experimentally at the strings of her silverwillow lute.
Allye clears her throat. Allye says, "This is called 'Bird of Summer,' but it isn't a fanciful tale of twee animal characters, sorry." She pauses for a moment, considering. "Or you're welcome, depending on your taste for such things." Allye grins wryly. (Allye uses her knee to nudge her lute to be more securely cradled in her lap. She adjusts the pick on her finger before beginning to strum a soft, gentle tune.) Allye fondly sings in a soprano voice: "You came to me at the flushed end of spring. As days grew long, your song took wing. Your voice engulfed me, as heady as wine, Like the warmth of your hand as it found mine."
Allye lovingly sings in a soprano voice: "I was yours in those mornings bright with berries and dew, Every fear, every scar, your song healed yet anew. We would tumble and fumble, quite like children at play, But somehow we'd land, entangled, soft and safe."
Allye yearningly sings in a soprano voice: "Sweet summer sparrow, sing to me, Remind me how we used to be."
"Where we once lay is now banked deep in snow, The blithe sun that kissed our eyes, here barely aglow. Your song has left this place, flown off all too soon, And left me retracing our steps to remember its tune."
Allye yearningly sings in a soprano voice: "Sweet summer sparrow, sing to me, Remind me how we used to be."
"Dear sweet sparrow, come back and sing to me, We'll soar along together in blissful reverie. I search the skies, praying you will prove to me someday That birds of summer can come home, not only fly away."
Allye gives a slight nod. |
