This is an archived post by Aetherie, because Simu is dumb and doesn't archive its forums so all the old stuff is lost.

Here's an idea that would be nice for the new commune/devotion system.

Upon reaching circle 40, the cleric is given his Book of the Divine. Rituals, Communes, Brands, Incantations, and Prayers will be scribed in this book as the cleric advances in the guild. Reading each page will teach scholarship and theosophy. (Better than moonie sigil scrolls I hope, because those teach three skills at once.) While the book is mostly for informational and training purposes, one chapter is scribed with incantations which need to be read from the book in order to unleash their power.

Chapter One: Rituals (explains the rituals you have performed at least once)
-Page 1: Neutral Rituals
-Page 2: Light Rituals
-Page 3: Dark Rituals

Chapter Two: Communes (explains the communes you have learned)
-Page 1: Meraud
-Page 2: Eluned
-Page 3: Urrem'tier
>(insert more communes)

Chapter Three: Brands (explains the brands you have learned)
-Page 1: Kerenhappuch
-Page 2: Drogor
-Page 3: Aldauth
>(insert more brands)

Chapter Four: Incantations (These are powerful prayers that can be read outloud from the book or memorized temporarily to chant later. Ability to learn these is based on scholarship.)
-Page 1: "Beseech to Eluned" (Requires 150 scholarship. Makes a ferry or boat travel faster. Taught by Innu.)
-Page 2: "Undeath's Bane" (Requires 200 scholarship. Causes necromancy and sorcery spells to fizzle in the area. Continuous chant. Taught by Sothavi.)
-Page 3: "Prayer to Aldauth" (Requires 250 scholarship. Allows you to invoke the slab prayer anywhere. Taught by Jelna.)
>(insert more incantations)

Chapter Five: Prayers (These are simple prayers that you copy from prayer parchments to your book.)
-Page 1: "Hymn to Hodierna"
-Page 2: "Prayer for Life"
-Page 3: "Abues ia Fostra"
>(insert more prayers)

READ: To view a page's contents.
STUDY: For Chapter Four only. To temporarily memorize an incantation.
INVOKE: For Chapters Four and Five only. To chant an incantation or prayer outloud.

PS. Ok, I admit. I want this because I'm jealous of how well the moonie scrolls teach scholarship, astrology, and appraisal.
