This is an archive of everything I've written having to do with Spiritweaving.

My Intentions

My intentions in creating these documents are very simple. To sum up my beliefs with respect to the Cleric Guild in Dragonrealms...

(1) As a magic-prime guild, I am interested in it. Magic is one of those things that opens up avenues of possibility like nothing else, and that attracts me like a moth to the flame.

(2) The Cleric Guild is grossly underdeveloped. This is not the fault of anyone, including the Guild GMs.

(3) The main reason the Guild is underdeveloped can be found in its fundamentals. Most standard cleric jobs are taken by other guilds. Clerics are not considered healers (Empaths), defenders of the people (Paladins), esoteric shamans (Moon Mages), bureaucrats [theocrats] (Traders), or druids (Rangers). Thus, it is very hard to design anything that doesn't step on another guild's toes.

(4) Clerics DO have something very unique to them, but that isn't at all exploited. And that's spirit. There are beginnings of an exploitation of this (e.g. Chill Spirit, Aesrela Everild, Vigil), but it remains too artificial, as of now. The make-dead-people-alive spells are excluded in this consideration. The reason is because these spells have pretty much capped their expandability; complicating the process does nothing useful.

(5) Clerics also lack a decent creation system.

(6) Non-guild-based systems that could be written need to be, to permit clerics to take advantage of them.
