- As your vision twists you see an ancient shaman seated in what appears to be a sandstone cave, its walls glittering with embedded gems. Around him is scattered the detritus of failed experiments. In one hand he holds a pale runestone as he uses a broken arrow to dig a gem from the wall of the cave. You notice a small leather pack at his feet as something within it begins to stir. The shaman nudges the pack gently with his foot and says "Quiet my friend. Soon you shall feast, and all will tremble at the precision of our terrible magic. As your vision returns to normal you hear the shaman chortling softly.
- You focus inwardly searching for insight into your future.
You see an elderly Human farmer, hoe in hand, working in a garden. A pillar of fire and sunlight erupts some feet behind him, a screaming flame that somehow that does not consume the vegetation beneath it. The sunlight brightens and dims rhythmicly, while the crackle of the flame transforms into a polyphonic voice.
"They need to die."
The Old Man replies nonchalantly, "Everybody dies."
While it has no body language to speak of, you intuit that the flame is not amused. An awkward silence holds until the Old Man speaks again, "Can you do anything about the demon?"
"No."
"Then you have a very serious problem. Good luck with that." With that, the Old Man returns his attention to his vegetables.

Gems
a translucent blue-green svelae - This extremely hard gem has a diamond-like luster but an even brighter fire than the standard diamond. Svelae are mined among the mountains near Hibarnhvidar, and special pride and care is taken with each one found. Formed in a manner similar to diamonds, svelae gems are saturated by colorful liquid mineral pockets, usually introduced by erosion. Several attempts have been made by alchemists to reproduce svelae from diamonds, but so far none have been successful.
a huge sana'ati heart - Kept a very well-guarded secret until recently by the Rose Sisters of Ain Ghazal, the sana'ati heart is extracted already hardened from living trees as clear amber tinted with red. It is said that the gems are harvested from the spot on the trunk where the branches begin to spread. Old Ain Ghazal legend has it that the Sana'ati Dyaus tree of Leth Deriel has magical sana'ati hearts the size of a person's fist.
a large glittering eldring - A pale, very light champagne-colored stone that occasionally throws off other colors when turned, this gem is found in the highest reaches of the Seord Kerwaith mountain range. The jewel forms as crystals in icy cavern and pockets, made from the minerals found in the mountaintops. Because it naturally crystallizes into many facets, it is almost never cut, but rather used in its natural state.
a large green dwalgim - Found at the bottom of large mineral-rich rapids, this gem usually is discovered in small clusters of minerals between stones or boulders, covered in a chalky white substance before it is cut. Harvesting the jewel is extremely hazardous and unreliable at best, so much so that the phrase "chasing the dwalgim" is used to describe someone taking a wild risk to gain wealth.
