The steel token is commonly used to modify the appearance of a Moon Mage's shadow servant. Not being such a mage, you're fairly certain you couldn't activate such a device.

Were the steel token to be activated, the following modifications to a servant would be made:

 Base Description: "a gremlin-shaped Shadow Servant"
 Long Description: "a gremlin-shaped Shadow Servant of writhing darkness"
 LOOK Description: "Nearly concealed by constantly shifting shadows, the creature has taken a vague gremlin shape, with a huge protruding stomach."

These are compatible with the scroll system for alterations. You must use this item as the base when you GET your scroll if you wish to have it altered.
