I am Stomper Rhadyn GryphonHyt, Bearded Lion of Elanthia
I was born on the 10th day of the 5th month of Uthmor the Giant in the year of the Emerald Dolphin, 320 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer

Katjia and I affirmed our vows before the gods in the 9th month of Dolefaren the Brigantine (ship) in the year of the Silver Unicorn, 413. She wears my family heirloom, an antique Dwarven silver ring encrusted with brilliant diamonds and set with a magnificent shimmering sapphire, as her wedding ring.

As a Dwarf I follow the teachings of Kertigen and as a Barbarian follow in the path of Kuniyo.

I am an avid collector of rare Dwarven items. Some of my prized possessions include many weapons such as my Dwarven warsword, armor like my Dwarven plate armor, clothing such as my Dwarven battle cloak, and containers like my Dwarven utility belt. My vault overflows with other old and rare non-Dwarf related items horded for my own amusement.

Appearance

I have mismatched eyes, one silver and the other gold
My grey hair is long and thick, and is worn untamed
I have copper skin
My face and torso are painted with dragons soaring over worn mountain ranges in fresh gold warpaint.
I have a glossy mustache that glides over my upper lip before twining into a lush, belly-sweeping beard. The beard is tamed into several braids banded with transparent icesteel rings, the central plait graced with a magnificent molten-core diamond
My forearm has a tattoo of a kertig boulder carved with the words, "DWARVES ROCK".
Stretching between my shoulders are the wings of a splendid firebird, each plume scared into the flesh to create an intricate pattern. The feathers blend downward into the shape of flames as if spreading hungrily down my back. Where the marks come back together they form the words "Blood for Fire" in irregular angry red lines.

History

Spring. The season of love, hope, and new beginnings. And yet not so for me. I sit alone my cloak wrapped around me as the cold unfeeling stone I lean against presses into my back. Why am I here? How did I get here?

Pulling out the journal and quill from my pack I begin to write. I’ve done this before but now the words flow from my mind onto the page in a symbiotic wave of emotion, thoughts, and actions. This is my story.

My father, Hyt, was raised in the Biter Clan. He used to tell me of his time spent traveling through the mountains as a paergrimis always getting into trouble, but my favorite stories are always about my mother. I don’t know much about her even with his tellings as she was never a part of my story in presence but always in mind. I don’t even know her name.

My mother hailed from the Rose Clan. This is why I don’t know her. It was forbidden for clanswomen to marry or cavort with other clans, especially males. My father met her one day as a youngster while out adventuring. It must have been love at first sight because she forsook her own clan to be with him. That lasted just long enough for me to be born because she was quickly whisked away into seclusion shortly thereafter. My father searched for her but quickly discovered that rearing a dwarfling made his efforts all the more difficult.

Taking his pain, he traveled to Hibarnhvidar, gave up his clan and joined the Paladin guild to keep his mind busy. At this he excelled. He embraced his new life with a new name, Svor. Svor raised me to honor and cherish my Dwarven heritage and the ways of the Paladin. When I was only a kakhal he sat me down to prepare me for my journey to adulthood.

Outfitting me with his best Dwarven plate armor, battle cloak, and warsword he sent me east. “Go, find your adventure for the blood of the Biter courses through your veins.” And so I set off thinking I would never be back but always hoping.

I crossed the Himineldar Shel, going east and north until I made my way into Zoluren. There I came to The Crossing. Oh, the city. Bustling with people and races I’d never even heard of. How could I ever find my way? Then I saw a light. It was a fire burning outside of a tall structure. I entered and found myself in the Paladin guild. Lady Verika welcomed me to her domain and we talked about my father’s experiences in the guild until she convinced me to join.

Magic? What was this new thing. I had not seen my father use it even once. My conception of who my father truly was was all wrong. How could he have hidden this from me? I needed time to think.

I walked out the door fully expecting to return after clearing my head. I’m not a mage. I’ve been raised to rely only on my strength and wit since I was wee. How can I rely on magic? Is it a crutch? These and many other thoughts went through my head as I wandered the streets alone in my mind. I stopped, closed my eyes, and then I saw another light. This time the light came from inside me. What is this light? I opened my eyes and there I stood in the Champions Square. A door stood slightly ajar in front of me so I went in.

There sat who I know now to be Agonar. He too welcomed me as Lady Verika had before. We spoke of my troubled soul and he began to speak of the ways of the Barbarian. This sounded like who I really was inside. I decided then and there to join the guild. Agonar, whom I trusted (this was before his betrayal of me and my other guild members to the evil Callava and the S’lai assassins), guided me in the ways of my guild.

Looking up from my writing I look across and think I can see Hibarnhvidar. No, it’s not visible but in my mind it is. I dip my quill and set ink to parchment to finish this chapter of my story.

I’ve traveled back to Forfedhdar, and even now own the granite estate at the top of Midhik Haalm where my father raised me. I never found him again but many say he left one day in search of his true love never to return. I will never know.

The pain of my losses focused my will to travel the Realms. Always hunting. Always searching. Always alone. Now I battle to cull the beasts of the wild and invaders of civilization and train new recruits up in the ways of the barbarian.

As I close the journal and place it and my ink and quill back into my pack I don’t feel quite so lost. I have made it through life’s trials. Spring feels like the season of hope again. Thinking back over the past 80 years since my father sent me off with just his dearest warrior’s possessions I feel warm inside. For I know that I am never alone. I am Rhadyn the Dwarb.

Blood for fire!

The Branding

You are Stomper Rhadyn GryphonHyt, Bearded Lion of M'Riss, a Dwarven Barbarian.

Your forearm has a tattoo of a kertig boulder carved with the words, "DWARVES ROCK".
You are in good shape.
You are holding a beaten-bronze Dwarven shield in your left.
You are wearing a Dwarven greathelm mounted with thunder ram horns, a kyanite gwethdesuan, thin silver spectacles, a dull serpent earcuff, a dull serpent earcuff, a fierce chakrel wolverine amulet hung from a strip of braided leather, a simple wooden medallion, a black hooded Dwarven battle cloak painted with the image of a white firebird, a studded toolstrap with black jasper beading, a wide leather toolstrap with braided cord ties, a burnished toolstrap with bronze plating and leather ties, a small green ribbon embroidered with the Dwarven sigil for prosperity, a brass pin, a leather toolbag painted with dancing Dwarves, a damite-reinforced Dwarven weapon harness embossed with the image of a firebird, a blackened chainmail axe harness, a supple black leucro hide pack clasped with a gleaming silver fang, a silver Stomper's jersey, a stone grey cotton tunic adorned with the image of a lone Dwarven miner, a loose white muslin tunic embroidered with Dwarven axes, a matte silver bracelet engraved with a Dwarven blacksmith, a curved skinning blade with an antler hilt, a darkened leather-wrapped parry stick tooled with interlocking ravens, a pair of black mesh handguards, a bloody steel ring bearing the crest of the Barbarian Guild, a Dwarven utility belt, a wide Dwarven mining belt of sturdy worn leather , a lumpy bundle, a blued steel Dwarven hunting garniture inlaid with ivory plates, a stone-grey tobacco pouch with a miniature pickaxe toggle, a kertig warhorn engraved with the Barbarians' Guild crest, a grey and red tartan kilt clasped with a blackened iron raven, an expertly tooled thigh sheath embossed with a burning phoenix, a black leather warrior's quiver embossed with the image of a firebird and some iron-shod black leather Dwarven stomping boots with iron-spiked toes.
You gruffly say, "As many of you know I am Rhadyn the Dwarb. Oldest of the dwarven barbarians still walking this land."
You gruffly say, "I am here to tell my tale."
You gruffly say, "But I will keep it short. Let's begin."
You draw out your Dwarven warsword from the weapon harness, gripping it firmly in your right hand.
You solemnly say, "Many years ago, my father, Svor of the Biter Clan, fell in love with a Rose Clan lass."
You painfully say, "Their love was forbidden but my birth came none the less."
You gruffly say, "I never knew my mother as I grew up in Forfedhdar, but my father, being a paladin, taught me about honor, loyalty, and character."
You gruffly say, "When I was a kakhal, my father gave me three things."
You gruffly say, "His dwarven warsword."
You do an impressive display of agility with your warsword, spinning it up into the air in a flashing arc before neatly catching it and restoring your grip on it with a grin.
You gruffly say, "His dwarven plate armor."
You tap some Dwarven plate armor that you are wearing with the tip of your Dwarven warsword.
You gruffly say, "And his dwarven battle cloak."
You rub a black hooded Dwarven battle cloak painted with the image of a white firebird.
You confidently say, "As you can see he had our family symbol painted on my cloak. The firebird."
Caidie smiles.
You gruffly say, "He tasked me to set out across the Himineldar Shel, going east and north to Zoluren."
You stroke your beard in thoughtful contemplation.
You gruffly say, "It was in the Crossing where I first met Agonar."
You gruffly say, "He instructed me in the ways of the Barbarian and about the strength we alone carry. Our inner fire."
You gruffly say, "This was before his betrayal of me to Callava and the S'lai assassins."
You make a disgusting grunting noise. You manage to impart a certain incredulous quality to it.
You gruffly say, "Now I battle to cull the beasts of the wild and invaders of civilization and train new recruits up in the ways of the barbarian."
You matter-of-factly say, "I quickly learned that my fire increased with the blood of each kill which harkens the battle cry, "Blood for Fire."
You gruffly say, "It is for my father and my guild that I accept a brand with my family symbol and my battle cry."
You excitedly exclaim, "The firebird with the motto "Blood for Fire"!"
You kneel down upon the ground.
You quietly say, "Bring the pain."
You duck your head.
You lean on your warsword.
You sheathe the Dwarven warsword in your weapon harness.
Squanto lets out a loud "Huzzah!" for you!
Caidie leans forward.
Caidie leans forward and rests her chin in her hand, a thoughtful expression on her face.
You work your way out of some Dwarven plate armor.
You put your armor in your leucro hide pack.
Chuno lets out a loud "Huzzah!" for you!
Caidie lets out a loud "Huzzah!" for you!
Riverlynn looks at you and applauds!
You draw out your Dwarven warsword from the weapon harness, gripping it firmly in your right hand.
Squanto chants in a contrabass voice:

   "Strip strip strip"

Hammerfist grins.
Kja looks at you and lets out a hearty cheer on your behalf!
You lean on your warsword.
Everics chuckles.
Caidie laughs at Squanto.
Riverlynn laughs at Squanto.
Drunstan chuckles.
Arpia chuckles.

Arpia stands up.

Caraamon looks at you and lets out a hearty cheer on your behalf!
Feltzer chuckles.
Arpia gazes thoughtfully at you.
Caidie exclaims to you, "Tuck the beard away!"
You nod.
Hammerfist says, "Careful with that thing around the fire."
Arpia takes a firm grasp of your shoulder and turns you away from her.
You softly say, "Don't scorch the beard please."
Hammerfist nods to you.
Everics says, "If you thought the burnt tog smell was rough, the hair burning would be way worse."
You quiver.
Caidie snickers at Everics.
Riverlynn nods at Everics, obviously agreeing with his views.
Arpia places the last rod she used back into the fire to reheat and draws forth a different one.
Chuno chuckles.
A tear runs down your face.
Squanto shakes his head at you.
Squanto says, "Don't you dare."
Caidie snickers at you.
Drunstan chuckles.
Chuno cackles!
Caidie pats you on the back.
You quietly say, "For you father."
Chuno deeply says, "Oh my."

Arpia starts on your left shoulder and begins to draw the design in your flesh with the burning hot tip.
Dreaderic chuckles.
Squanto sniffs the air around him.
Dreaderic smiles at you.
You fall forward, landing on your face!
You shake off the stun.
Squanto sniffs the air around him.

Caidie says to you, "Barb up man. it only hurts a bunch."
Chuno deeply says, "That's one of the funniest things I've ever seen."
Caidie snickers at you.
Caidie pats you on the back.
You sit up.
You shake your head.
Caidie whispers something to Riverlynn.
Hammerfist smiles at you.
You feel a bit weak in the knees and find yourself wobbling.
Drunstan pats you on the back.
Riverlynn whispers something to Caidie.
Nimthiriel leans back against Hammerfist with a loving smile.
Arpia's focus is on you back as she works the pattern of scored flesh downward.
The smell of burning flesh fills the air.
Caidie knits her eyebrows together in a thoughtful frown.
Riverlynn wrinkles her nose.
You gnash your terrible teeth.
Caidie says, "Sweet mercy..."
Kja leans over and scratches Dreaderic's back.
Caidie reaches down and rubs your left hand.
You cringe.
You feel a burning sensation as Arpia works on your brand.
Nimthiriel slowly empties her lungs.
Nimthiriel leans back against Hammerfist with a loving smile.
Caidie gazes at you in awe.
Your muscles ripple and your veins begin to stick out as you tighten your grip on your Dwarven warsword.
Squanto nods to you.
You gaze upward.
Caidie gnaws on her lip.
Riverlynn leans over and whispers, "You are doing great."
As Arpia fishes the design created in on your flesh, your eyes roll back in your head and you feel the world fade away into blackness.
Squanto lets out a loud "Huzzah!"
You regain consciousness.
You glare at Riverlynn.
Caidie lets out a loud "Huzzah!" for you!
Riverlynn applauds.
Drunstan applauds.
Chuno looks at you and lets out a hearty cheer on your behalf!
Dreaderic looks at you and lets out a hearty cheer on your behalf!
Caraamon looks at you and lets out a hearty cheer on your behalf!
Chuno clamps his fist around your forearm and hauls you over for a merciless Barbarian greeting. You return the compliment, the satisfying sensation of sinew crunching in your grip.
Kja applauds.
Arpia slides the rod back into the fire, letting that clense it.
Kja looks at you and applauds!
Caidie exclaims, "Amazing!"
You rise to a kneeling position.
The blackness surrounding you slowly fades away as you regain consciousness.
Caidie looks at you and applauds!
You bow to Arpia.
You stand back up.
