Runestones for sure, possibly wands and the like but I'm not sure about their conversion status. I suspect any device that contains a 3.1 capable spell in it can be DISCERNed. E.g.:
> get rune
You get a shining calavarite runestone from inside your book bag.
> discern rune
The Arc Light spell uses small amounts of raw electrical energy to produce a blinding flash of light which may stun the target and cause minor head damage. Though non-lethal, use caution since it's possible to ignite naphtha with the flashes.
This is a battle spell, intended to be prepared quickly and cast on a single target while in battle. When used on opponents, this spell pits your magic against your enemy's fortitude. It can be cast at other adventurers and at hostile creatures. It requires a minimum of fifteen mana streams, and can expand to a maximum of one hundred mana streams woven into it. To begin to be able to cast this spell, you will need to reach the rank of an experienced practitioner. By the time you have mastered this spell, you will be ranked as a master in your abilities as a caster. It requires the Debilitation skill to cast effectively. Before you can learn this spell, you must know one of Gar Zeng or Elementalism. It will also cost two spell slots.
You don't think you are able to cast this spell. Roundtime: 7 sec.
