That's fair. The gem ranges are definitely pretty wide. The issue is that there are two axes involved: Quality and size. Quality has to be present for gemcutting (which is why I changed gems over in the first place), and size of a gem obviously is important. As far as making Cool Gem Drops, I agree - we're missing the 'wow factor' that yellow sapphires, etc used to have. It's possible that gem drop rates will tighten up a little bit in favor of higher-value gems, in which case you'll see a greater difference. However, I should remind you that you can also SEARCH a gem pouch, which will essentially look for the most valuable gem in an untied gem pouch. This was put in at the same time as the 500-gem tied limit so give people a way to find their most valuable gems without needing to appraise every gem they get. | |
