Lanita's mother is unknown to her. The story is that during the later years of the migration, the pack was crumbling and her mother feared to trust the family and decided not to chance anything. Things were changing far too much for her to trust the 'old ways'. Fearing her baby's life(Lanita's birth Rakash name is unknown), she wandered some ways off into a human's barn. The next morning an Elothean Trader accidentally picked up the bundle containing the child with her wares and didn't discover the truth until later. Lanita's mother tried to recover her but the Trader sped off before giving her a chance. The trader later on gave the child to an Elven Empath to care for her.
Lanita grew up not knowing what it was to be Rakash, why her body changed or even why so until much later. She finds a dying Rakash man and cares for him. At this time she was still trying out other Guilds and was ignoring the call to becoming a healer. She tries her best and throughout the time he was under her care he taught her that she wasn't the only one that changed, that it was to Katamba that her body was responding to, and some of the Rakash language was taught through his amazing storytelling, drawing in the dirt and signing the best they could with the language gap. He knew only Rakash and she only common.
She tried her best but he slowly succumbed to the infection on his body and died. She joined the Empath's guild after that intent on making sure a chance like that didn't slip through her fingers again.
She now accepted but still did not enjoy moonskin as a proper Rakash should. Still ashamed and hardly aware of what joy there was in being Rakash. She, of course, shocked Malykai when meeting her and he her. He taught her the pure carnal joy of being in Moonskin and Rakash. Ever since she's made it a true effort in her life to try and offer the ones that don't know a chance to learn better and a chance in acceptance. To give them what she did not.
