Zoluren Team Joust Trials & Finals

The Zoluren Team Joust is the first quad-annual team joust competition hosted by the Order of the White Rose within Zoluren, which allows entrants of all races and guilds who are coming from all provinces within Elanthia to compete for prizes.

  • Upcoming Team Trials Pre-registration: February 9, 2024, 7-8 pm est.
  • Upcoming Team Trials Date: February 10, 2024, Registration 7-8 pm est, Matches begin at 8 pm est.
  • Upcoming Team Finals Pre-registration: March 8, 2024 7-8 pm est.
  • Upcoming Team Finals Date: March 9, 2024, Registration 7-8 pm est, Matches begin at 8 pm est.
  • Past Team Finals Date: March 11, 2023, Registration 6:30-7:30 pm est, Matches begin at 7:30 pm est.
  • Past Team Trials Date: February 11, 2023 7 pm est registration, jousts start 7:30 pm est.
  • Location: Zoluren Royal Mews
  • Host: Order of the White Rose Gwenddolyn

Rules

  • Teams will consist of a minimum of 3 jousters, a maximum of 5 jousters, preferably across at least 3 different divisions. The top 3 scores will count (even if they are in the same division) and the 2 alternates scores will not count unless there is a tie. No more than 5 jousters per team.
  • The top 3 Teams at Trials will qualify for Finals. I case of a tie, even after adding in the alternates' points, 4 teams will advance to the Finals.
  • Teams will compete under a Team Name followed by the first name of the jouster (i.e. HHJC-Zalinyar or OWR-Argentocoxa). Teams must also name a Team Captain.
  • Pre-registration is encouraged, which will take place the night before the trials, from 7-8 pm est, or if you can track down the Host. All team members must be present to TELLEXP for it to count.
  • Team Captains must be present at some point during the 7-8 pm est on the nights of the trials and finals to check in their pre-registered team. Jousts begin at 8 pm est and team members must be present when their joust is called to the field or they will forfeit their match.
  • Rules of Forfeiture are: Forfeit must occur prior to saluting your opponent by laying your lance before the feet of the opponent and declaring them the winner. No forfeiture can happen in the middle of a joust match or afterwards, or the entire team is disqualified for poor sportsmanshop. Good sportsmanship is the highest jousting standard that will be upheld. An automatic foreiture occurs when a jouster is not present or does not show up on the field within a reasonable amount of time after their match is called to the field. This does not disqualify the team, only quitting during a match does. A final gweth call will be made to give them a chance to reply if they are having trouble retrieveing their mount.
  • Ordinal position points (1st=5, 2nd=3, 3rd=2, 4th=1) will be awarded for each team jouster and the top 3 scores will be used as the team's total. Ties will be broken by adding in the 2 alternates' scores for the tied teams.
  • It may be possible that you will have to joust your own team member within your same division, but that is actually a good strategy because you will prevent other teams from scoring more points, and you can secure more alternate points to use to your team's advantage in the case of a tie.
  • The Team jousts will start with division 7 and move backwards, since the majority of the team captains are in the higher divisions, and this will allow them to focus more on helping the younger jousters in the lower divisions.
  • This is a single elimination competition, and the third and fourth places will be determined by the total of your plate, shield and polearm skills added together.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the team as a whole, as this is not an individual entry event. Prizes will be awarded to the Team Captain for distribution among their team, which includes enough prizes for each team member and any monetary awards in Platinum Kronars.
  • Contestants will verify their skill in Plate Armor, Polearms and Shield via the TELLEXP command. YOU MUST TELL YOUR TEAM NAME WHEN REGISTERING TELLEXP. See the Division Registration Reqs below for the formula details.
  • No spells of any kind are allowed to be in effect. (This is to avoid arguing or constantly checking Elanthipedia to determine which spells might affect the outcome.)
  • No stat or skill buffs are allowed. This means all spells and special abilities, which includes weight-reducing spells, Empathic links, constellation jewelry, stat rings, or any other buff deemed unallowable because it changes stats or skills.
  • Cheating will be an automatic disqualification.
  • No mulligans. If a jouster jumps off of their horse because they are not properly equipped, then they will forfeit the match. Absolutely no do-overs will be allowed.

Division Registration Reqs:

  • Contestants will verify their skill in plate armor, polearms and shield usage via the TELLEXP command. They will be placed in the appropriate divisions as stated below, based on a formula of these three skills which is the sum of your plate, polearm and shield divided by three.
