Item Edits

Thanks for all of your item edits! When adding material, color, and symbol tags, please use the singular (for example, "ruby," not "rubies"). For symbols, adjectives should normally be omitted (for example, "wolverine," not "snarling wolverine"). --Isharon 20:36, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Um, no clue how to actually respond to my talk.. so hope this works.

So, I will do that from now on, should I go back and fix everything I have done? Also, I have been erasing a lot of like.. when something is made of troll leather, and never mentions leather otherwise, since someone else had put troll leather, leather as the material. I didn't see the need for it twice, and it was specifically troll leather, not just leather. Is that right or wrong? Also, gems.. like a white diamond. I put white diamond as the material, not diamond as the material and white as the color, since you wouldn't list cloud ruby as just a ruby, so it seemed contrary to list white diamond as apart. Which is correct. Also I have been erasing silver as a color when it is clearly listed as a material only, and erasing gold as a material when it is only listed as golden, and putting golden as a color instead. Is that correct?

I've been fixing the tags as I patrol the item edits, so it won't be necessary for you to edit the items you've already done.
The purpose of the material, color, and symbol tags is so that people can use the search function to find items that match those criteria. (For example, you could search for shields made of "silver" or jewelry with the "rose" symbol.) In general, simpler is better (for example, "green" instead of "dark green"). However, sometimes with materials people put both to allow both more specific and more general searches. (For example, if an item has a glacier emerald, it might be tagged both "glacier emerald" and "emerald." If it were only tagged "glacier emerald," a search for "emerald" wouldn't retrieve that item.)
Also, it is unnecessary to put spaces after the commas in material, color, and symbol tags.

Ghost Ship Item

Is it an "oak belaying pin" or an "oak belaying pin with tiny cracks in the knob"? -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 00:57, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
