A circle is closely analogous to a level in other RPGs, but is generally more loosely regulated due to DragonRealms' skill-based nature. Whereas a typical game may have a set requirement of combat experience in order to achieve a level, circles in DragonRealms require only a few specific skill requirements along with broad general requirements (e.g., 2 ranks of skill in 6 different Survival skills of the player's choice). Furthermore, while many RPGs grant a specific increase in stat points, circling in DragonRealms grants a number of TDPs, which can then be used to train stats as the player desires or to access a number of other benefits, such as purchasing additional spell slots.

Circle is a definition of how far one has progressed into his or her guild. A novice begins at first circle, and when sufficient experience have been acquired, may then progress to second circle, and so on.
