Uryutis says, "While the nature of Fire is to burn, and the nature of Water is to flow, these describe the behaviors of these elements, particularly as they interact with our Plane. Not so with Aether. If the Elements compose a painting of our Plane, then Aether is the canvas, or the oil in which the pigments are mixed." |

Uryutis says, "Aether is fundamentally different from the other Elements, and suffuses everything, giving the other Elements weight and heft. [Noble Inn, Dining Hall]
A long banquet table runs across the center of the room, flanked on each side by padded benches upholstered in delicate embroidered silk. Smaller round dining tables sit in private nooks in the walls, next to tall brass candelabra which shine with a low flickering light. A low murmur of conversation carries from parties of guests seated about the area. The walls are hung with tapestries matching the embroidered burgundy rug covering the floor. You also see a waitress. Also here: Elder Liurilias who is emanating a bright holy aura, Perune, Scholar of the Grove Uryutis, Mazrian who is sitting and Song Phoenix Blackmuse who is trailed by a discombobulated shadow jumping in and out of view. Obvious exits: out. Uryutis says, "I reached out to Saragos initially and told him I'd be here, but I remembered somewhat last minute that there's actually a meeting hall in this fine city, which is where I'll be presenting my lecture." You nod politely. Mazrian asks, "Outstanding. Some food beforehand, maybe?" Uryutis says, "Something light. Pre-talk jitters." Fickle Wind Qiyan just arrived. Qiyan smiles. Mazrian nods in agreement. Uryutis asks, "What do you recommend?" Qiyan exclaims, "Howdee!" Qiyan hails you with a clenched fist over her heart and a respectful nod, the traditional Kaldaran greeting. Mazrian says, "Nothing for the jitters like some basic fried potatos." Inquisitor Whiteburn just arrived. Uryutis says, "Wise man." Liurilias leans on Whiteburn. Qiyan says to Blackmuse, "Glad ya could make." Whiteburn's body jerks briefly. Qiyan says, "It." Blackmuse nods to Qiyan. Qiyan coughs. Blackmuse says, "Happy to be here." Whiteburn clears her throat. Whiteburn nods politely. Perune chuckles. Uryutis asks you, "I trust Saragos is en route?" Fariden says to Liurilias, "As always, a pleasure to see you again, Munan." Qiyan says to Fariden, "Nice to see ya." Mazrian says, "Wisdom gleaned from a long life." Liurilias nods graciously at Fariden, giving him a polite smile. Blackmuse smiles at you. Mazrian grins wryly. You say, "Yes. I wasn't expecting you quite so early I'm afraid." Uryutis says, "Excellent." Fariden says to Qiyan, "Well, yeah. I am a delight." Qiyan winks at Fariden. You whisper to Blackmuse, "Ah, you must be him!" Blackmuse nods to you. Liurilias says to Fariden, "Good to be seen." Fariden playfully says to Qiyan, "Oh, you too." Uryutis says, "I'm just idling away before the talk. If you were gathered otherwise, I don't mean to interupt." Fariden grins at Liurilias. You say, "To the few of you not yet briefed, I'll say a few words to you in a moment." You say, "I'm still coordinating with others." Blackmuse nods. Uryutis says, "I did promise you all a little of my time before hand, so figured I could only go over my notes so many times before it stopped helping." Uryutis nods to you. Uryutis says, "Why don't you do that. I'll follow Mazrian's advice." Qiyan says to Uryutis, "Pleasure to meet ya sir... I mean... about to meet ya, because I am heretoforth introducin myself.. as Qiyan, I'm Qiyan." A waitress hands Uryutis a basket of sliced fried potatoes. Uryutis smiles at Qiyan. Uryutis takes a bite of the potatoes. Mazrian nods to Uryutis. You see Scholar of the Grove Uryutis, Aetgar Alreid, a Gnome. Uryutis has a square face and blue-grey eyes. He has cropped auburn hair with a white streak running through it, with pale skin and a scrawny build. He is a bit over average height for a Gnome. He appears to be distinguished. He has some light stubble on his face. He is in good shape. He is holding a basket of sliced fried potatoes in his right hand. He is wearing a simple cloak of sturdy steelsilk woven in a spiraling weave, a tiger lily carnelian pin, a long sleeved linen shirt, an orichalcum ring bearing the crest of the Warrior Mage guild, some jaalmin weave pants with fine embroidery along the seams and some sturdy leather boots. You say to Qiyan, "It is proper to hail the good Gnome." You briefly drop to one knee as you hail Uryutis with a clenched fist over your heart and a respectful nod. Uryutis says to Qiyan, "Uryutis." Qiyan briefly drops to one knee and hails Uryutis with a clenched fist over her heart and a respectful nod. Liurilias observes Qiyan with fascination. Uryutis attempts a Kaldaran greeting but it just looks like a limp salute. Qiyan exclaims to you, "I do proper things now and then!" You smile at Qiyan. Liurilias's tail undulates lazily through the air. Uryutis gazes upwards at you and hails you with a clenched fist over his heart and a respectful nod in an attempt at the traditional Kaldaran greeting. Close enough. Qiyan just nudged Liurilias. Fariden raises an eyebrow in Qiyan's direction. Uryutis gazes upwards at Qiyan and hails her with a clenched fist over the heart and a respectful nod. You smile at Uryutis. Knight Magister Saragos just arrived. Liurilias cocks his head at Qiyan. Saragos gives a courteous nod and tips his hat politely. Mazrian nods to Saragos. Qiyan gulps. Perune nods to Saragos. Qiyan grins at Saragos. Whiteburn says to Uryutis, "Forgive me. I had not the time to introduce myself, previously." Qiyan says to Saragos, "Please tell me its you." Whiteburn says, "Whiteburn, of the Holy Inquisition." Hodierna's Fist Kaelie just arrived. Uryutis nods to Whiteburn. Mazrian smiles at Kaelie. Saragos asks Qiyan, "Want a cigar?" Kaelie stands near Mazrian. Qiyan says to Saragos, "I could hug you." Saragos grins at Qiyan. Mazrian asks Uryutis, "Can I introduce my wife, Kaelie?" Kaelie smiles at Uryutis. Qiyan says to Blackmuse, "Thank ya." Qiyan hugs Kaelie, who wraps her arms around Qiyan with a warm smile. You say, "So, allow me to introduce Blackmuse and Fariden to all of you. A reminder to everyone that these meetings are to be kept secret." Blackmuse nods to Qiyan. Whiteburn gazes at you. Uryutis asks Whiteburn, "Your reputation preceeds you Mother. Greetings. May... Drogor... spare? us all?" Blackmuse nods to you. Uryutis smiles at Whiteburn. The tip of Whiteburn's tail makes lazy circles in the air. Liurilias chuckles. Blackmuse says, "It is nice to meet you all." Blackmuse smiles. Perune nods to Blackmuse. Liurilias says to Uryutis, "A fair request." Mazrian nods to Blackmuse. Liurilias nods to Uryutis. Mazrian says, "Likewise." Perune says, "Well met." Whiteburn says to Uryutis, "Perhaps the Almighty Storm-bringer might be pleased enough to show us such by our faith." You say, "To catch the two of you up, well. We have been doing a bit of elemental experimentation, particularly with the element of Aether." Blackmuse nods to you. Fariden nods. Fariden asks you, "Like the pin you are wearing?" Mazrian says, "Went fairly well, I thought. No one died and we possibly learned something." Mazrian nods to Uryutis. You say to Fariden, "A bit bigger than that." Fariden chuckles. You say, "Perune and Saragos are working on a method to infuse a location with enough aether to effectively, hm, seal the area from planar incursions." Qiyan says, "More coppery." Blackmuse says, "Interesting." Fariden asks, "Related to the planar nexuses? Nexi?" Blackmuse smirks. You say, "The idea being that demons need to make incursions into our Plane in order to establish themselves here." Saragos touches a rustic cigarillo with a glowing finger, and it quickly catches fire. You shake your head at Fariden. Fariden nods. Saragos asks Uryutis, "Cigar?" You say, "This is advanced elemental theory, but based on sound research." Saragos takes a long drag off of a burning rustic cigarillo. Liurilias quietly says to Uryutis, "I am Liurilias, and like my young friend here, also from the Inquisition." Uryutis shakes his head at Saragos. Blackmuse nods to you. Whiteburn's tail undulates passively just above the ground. Uryutis nods to Liurilias. Liurilias's ears straighten up smartly as he gazes at Whiteburn, a look of pride on his face. Singer Shannera just arrived. Shannera casually observes the area. Saragos whispers, "Sanctuary?" You say, "As it happened, during our first experiment, the warrior mages present were able to, hm, sense some things about the plane. They experienced a sort of hissing noise, and they could sense the location of certain weak points." You weave a soft melody, as you begin Sanctuary, the notes so light and airy they can barely be heard. You nod politely to Shannera. Uryutis smiles at you. Shannera nods to you. You say, "This is Shannera, also invited." Mazrian smiles at Shannera. You release an accompaniment of elemental electricity into your singing, as you resolve the soft melody into a modal form. A dome of light begins to structure itself around you in response. Blackmuse nods. Whiteburn trills softly at Liurilias. Liurilias angles his ears forward, gazing curiously at Whiteburn. You say, "As it happens Uryutis here noticed our meddling and wanted to come and speak to us, which he has done once before." Uryutis nods. Blackmuse nods to you. You say, "I've brought each of you in for various reasons, but I remind you that in doing so we are placing great trust in you. There are Necromancers who work to empower Maelshyve, and we are working to weaken her." Fariden frowns. Mazrian says, "Meddling? That's a step up from dabbling. We're moving up." Fariden grins at Mazrian. Mazrian smiles at you. Uryutis begins chortling at Mazrian. You flash a quick grin at Mazrian. You say, "Uryutis plans to give a lecture today, and this is our opportunity to speak to him privately before he does so, in about an anlas." Uryutis coughs. Uryutis takes a bite of the potatoes. Uryutis takes a bite of the potatoes. Uryutis takes a bite of the potatoes. Uryutis takes a bite of the potatoes. You say, "Bards, you in particular I am hoping will play a role in our next experiment. We can discuss details later." Blackmuse nods to you. Perune says, "I prefer to think we're running buck wild with no concern for what lurks beyond the void." Perune reaches up and moves his icesteel balaclava about on his head. Uryutis laughs at Perune. Qiyan nods to Perune. You say to Perune, "Typical warrior mage." Liurilias chuckles. Mazrian chuckles. Whiteburn frowns. Uryutis says to Perune, "I'd normally not find that funny, but you of all people have felt the effects of experimental error." Perune grins. Shannera tightly laces her fingers together and deliberately orbits one thumb around the other as she settles into a meditative demeanor. You ask, "Perune, Saragos, perhaps you could begin if you have any questions?" Qiyan says, "This question of bleedin ears came up earlier with another bard as I was wranglin others." Perune says, "If I can't be amused at my own recklessness, I'm not sure I could function." Saragos says to Perune, "We've got few options. I'd like to think we're being as careful as we can." Qiyan says, "And it seems Elf ears bleed more." Qiyan nods emphatically. Perune asks Uryutis, "I do wonder if there's something related to our work that you wanted to share prior to the lecture?" Saragos nods. Saragos casually flicks some ashes off the end of his rustic cigarillo. Uryutis ponders. Qiyan briefly drops to one knee and hails Marssi with a clenched fist over her heart and a respectful nod. Qiyan hugs Rifkinn, getting a smile in return. Mazrian nods to Rifkinn. Rifkinn winks at Mazrian. Rifkinn smiles at Whiteburn. Whiteburn nods politely to Rifkinn. Uryutis says, "You may not like the report I'll be delivering, but I hope you take it in the good faith and positive light we're treating the initiative you took. I think you were hoping for more drastic, direct outcomes, but alas, the nature of research is that it is slow, filled with failure, and typically devoid of spontaneous breakthroughs." Marssi gazes upwards at Qiyan and hails her with a clenched fist over the heart and a respectful nod. Marssi hugs Liurilias, who wraps his arms around Marssi with a warm smile. Uryutis says, "You provided us a surprise, some new data to consider." Liurilias leans on Rifkinn. You nod to Uryutis. Perune nods to Uryutis. Liurilias hugs Marssi gingerly, trying not to hurt her. You get a slender oak-bound volume incised with "The First Land Herald" from inside your black coat. You get a pristine goose feather quill from inside your black coat. You carefully open a slender oak-bound volume incised with "The First Land Herald". Shannera gazes at you. You whisper to Shannera, "Have you found a notebook yet?" Uryutis says, "So... Unfortunately, Maelshyve won't be pushed out tomorrow due to your clever, though stupid, though still clever, endeavor, but there are some potentials that merit further study." Mazrian ponders. Saragos says to Uryutis, "A lot of us have spent many, many years honing our craft. The fact that we're standing here means we're nothing, if not persistent." Shannera whispers, "I think I have one, I just need to check my storage" Uryutis nods at Saragos, obviously agreeing with his views. Saragos nods to Uryutis. Liurilias scratches one ear, looking bemused. Perune says, "I didn't really expect that she would be, it was merely a first step towards a goal." Qiyan asks, "So does that mean further experimentin will lead to more ear bleedin?" Uryutis grins at Qiyan. Saragos says, "I've a couple. Feel free to refer us to the meeting if it's something you're planning on covering later." Perune asks, "But.. you did mention last time we met that what we were attempting has been done before for other issues, yes? Can you elaborate on that?" Kaelie asks Qiyan, "Puts us to work at least?" Mazrian chuckles at Kaelie. Shannera whispers, "I have a petite violet notebook engraved with knotwork, will that do?" Qiyan says to Kaelie, "I'm gonna start packin cotton balls." You whisper to Shannera, "As long as it has pages and you can write in it." Shannera nods to you. You whisper to Shannera, "A reminder that this meeting is to be kept utterly secret." Shannera nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views. Uryutis says to Saragos, "I was instructed to not reveal the specifics of what you did, though I will be referring to the experiment to clarify some things. Both for... other Elementalists protection, and the greater safety." You whisper to Rifkinn, "A reminder that this meeting is to be kept utterly secret." Qiyan squints. Whiteburn politely says, "I beg pardon. I must take momentary leave." Whiteburn gives a slight nod. Inquisitor Whiteburn struts out. Uryutis says to Perune, "Resonance of Elemental forces is not new, and Aether has some odd properties that make it particularly amenable to studies of vibration." Rifkinn gazes out. Perune gives a slight nod. Uryutis says to you, "You may find some of this topic particularly interesting, actually." You nod at Uryutis, in complete agreement with his views. Mazrian says, "I'm certainly looking forward to it." You say, "Yes, as I mentioned last time, it would seem that Bards might offer a unique perspective here." Liurilias gives Rifkinn a little prod between the shoulder blades. Perune chuckles at Rifkinn. Rifkinn smirks at Liurilias. Uryutis smiles. Saragos says to Uryutis, "With regard to the slow grind of experimentation, my thoughts were along the line of putting to good use the Aether we can pull in, and the seeming connection we were able to make. You may be planning on commenting on this, but my main question was on the strategy to begin to find ways to strengthen the Aetheric barrier. My thoughts lean towards methods of weaving, but I was wondering if other attempts with certain approaches have turned out to be bad news in the past." Qiyan blinks. Shannera tightly laces her fingers together and deliberately orbits one thumb around the other as she settles into a meditative demeanor. Uryutis blinks at Saragos. Liurilias chuckles. Uryutis asks Saragos, "What do you know of weaving?" Uryutis squints at Saragos. Saragos says to Uryutis, "What I've picked up from working for Zasele once every four years, mostly." Saragos grins crookedly. Mazrian says to Saragos, "Make a mean aether sock, eventually." Saragos says, "But that method intuitively seems to be the most analagous to what we want to accompish." Saragos says, "To me, at least." Uryutis says, "Curious. I wasn't expecting you to have surmised as much. At least not so quickly." Uryutis chuckles. You say, "He's smarter than he lets on." Qiyan scowls. You flash a quick grin at Saragos. Uryutis says, "That's an impressive leap made with fewer clues than I thought I'd afforded." Saragos gives a courteous nod and tips his hat politely. Perune ponders. Uryutis says, "I've some pet theories on the bias that Bards utilize when interfacing with Elemental energies, and some rather esoteric connections to some arts that have put me on tenuous grounds with some of my less creative peers." You arch your eyebrow. Mazrian asks Uryutis, "Are you a weaver, then?" Saragos nods to Uryutis. Uryutis chuckles. Uryutis says, "I'm sorry, it's funny given the context." Uryutis asks, "Yes?" Mazrian chuckles. Uryutis says, "Maybe some of what has been accomplished, maybe the best approaching going forward. I've also studied some of the techniques of tailors and weavers, fishermen and their nets." Kaelie whispers something to Mazrian. Uryutis says, "There's something there, I'm sure of it." Mazrian whispers something to Kaelie. Kaelie smiles at Mazrian. Saragos nods to Uryutis. Saragos says, "I was considering a focus for this weaving, as well, and work on crafting one. After all, the thread needs a needle, for the mage directing the flows. I was wondering if you had any knowledge of materials particularly appropriate. Orichalcum was the first one that came to mind, but there may be better options." Rifkinn winks at Qiyan. Fariden ponders. Fariden gets some braided silvery twine from inside his hunting pack. Uryutis exhales dramatically. He rolls his eyes for effect, and shrugs. Qiyan snaps her fingers. Uryutis says, "I haven't even gotten to the point where I'm confident in which weave to make use of." Saragos nods to Uryutis. Perune asks, "What would you need to get to that point?" Liurilias taps one claw against his triquetra pendant thoughtfully. Saragos says, "And feeling out the existing weave is the other problem. There's a need to be able to sense it in order to strengthen it, otherwise you're just sewing in random threads. I'm thinking of Bards for this, actually." Uryutis says, "Corner hitch, two strand overhand, linfit, harness bend, lighterman's hitch, hanging bowline, water bowline, sweeping gather, leaf plait, round mat... I've barely gotten to the point where I can tie them by hand." You say to Uryutis, "I myself was hoping to ask for more information about the Othersight, as you mentioned it last time." Uryutis nods to you. Uryutis says to you, "I'm... kind of excited to show you, but it'll have to wait for the lecture." You say, "Fair enough." Mazrian nods. Liurilias cocks his head. Mazrian asks, "Would there be a forceful objection if we continued the research?" Uryutis says to Saragos, "Some of my studies in weaving have led to some impressions of what was done, historically, and some things that we may try moving forward. But I'm not sure if the correlates are adequate, or my own cognitive bias having obsessed with this." You nod to Uryutis. Uryutis asks Mazrian, "I suppose that depends on the sort of research. Try not to break anything much worse?" You ask, "Can you share any of the attempts made historically? What was tried, and what happened?" Mazrian ponders. Saragos nods to Uryutis. Mazrian dryly asks Uryutis, "What did we break and how badly did we break it?" Perune says, "Pretty sure I was the main thing that broke." Saragos grins at Perune. Perune chuckles. You "<to Miskton>" "I do hope you will make this elemental lecture happening shortly." You project your thoughts to Miskton. You "<to Miskton>" "This is the Gnome that we had told you about, with the bat familiar." You project your thoughts to Miskton. Mazrian chuckles at Perune. Kaelie dryly asks Mazrian, "How many times have you had to ask that question?" [Personal][Miskton] "<to you>" "That is my intention." Liurilias wryly says to Mazrian, "You broke Perune among possibly other things, congratulations." Uryutis says to you, "I believe that there are places that have been... woven? back together. The records are spotty, and in some cases, not mine to share. But there have also been efforts to do things even clumsier than what you lot tried, that went significantly worse. Those are often more public." Mazrian says to Kaelie, "It's just the job, darling. Really." You nod to Uryutis. Uryutis says to Mazrian, "I'll speak on that, but, This Place, and, only a very little bit." You say, "As a Bard I am naturally interested in recording such details, if you ever have the time or inclination to share them." Saragos whispers something to Perune. Mazrian nods to Uryutis. Perune whispers something to Saragos. Uryutis says to you, "I too would prefer more transparancy in records, as both my approach and theirs suffer when we repeat the same mistakes repeatedly. But it's not my decision to make." You nod to Uryutis. Saragos nods to Uryutis. Mazrian asks, "Would there be any measures we could take to ensure we break things less the next time?" Uryutis says, "With any luck I'll be able to give more lectures on these research expeditions." You nod to Mazrian. Kaelie raises an eyebrow. Uryutis says to Mazrian, "Maybe stick to weaving socks if that's what you're after. Or, you know, the spell patterns we've provided your lessons." Uryutis grins at Mazrian. Kaelie says, "Or perhaps a way to keep them alive." Uryutis says to Kaelie, "I'm afraid that's your domain." Perune asks, "So.. ultimately this line of experimentation broke pieces of our Plane?" Rifkinn raises an eyebrow. Kaelie says to Uryutis, "I've had troubles keeping myself alive lately, I really pray their hopes are not pinned on me." Mazrian says to Uryutis, "But that curriculum is so limited. There are so obviously variations and approaches that follow from the standard but never get mentioned." Mazrian frowns at Uryutis. Uryutis says to Perune, "Tiny pieces... it's... I'll be speaking on it." Perune gives a slight nod. Mazrian says, "It's like being handed a guitar and only taught to play scales." Qiyan grumbles. Uryutis says to Mazrian, "Yes. I'm led to believe the curriculum is limited for a reason. Given that said guitar can break pieces of the Plane if played incorrectly." Uryutis asks, "The lecture will start shortly. Shall we?" Rifkinn whispers something to Marssi. Perune gives a slight nod. Saragos nods to Uryutis. Saragos joins Perune's group. Mazrian nods. You nod to Uryutis. Mazrian joins Perune's group. Kaelie joins Perune's group. Uryutis asks, "Do you all know where to go?" You join Perune's group. Shannera nods. Blackmuse joins Perune's group. Shannera joins Perune's group. You say, "Perune had better know." Uryutis takes a bite of the potatoes. Qiyan peers quizzically at Perune. Uryutis says to Mazrian, "The potatoes helped, thanks." Mazrian smiles at Uryutis. Perune asks, "Its been a bit but I know the general meeting hall I think, along River Road East?" Rifkinn flashes a wide grin. Uryutis nods to Perune. Qiyan says, "I've followed him to unknowns before." Rifkinn winks at Marssi. Uryutis says, "Cypress room." Mazrian says, "Works great whether it's public speaking or getting shot at you're preparing for." Qiyan joins Perune's group. Mazrian nods to Uryutis. Uryutis says, "I'll follow you lot." Uryutis joins Perune's group. Perune asks, "Everyone with me?" Rifkinn says, "Wait." Qiyan snickers at Rifkinn. Rifkinn says, "Just had to get some more cordial." Perune asks, "Good now?" Rifkinn says, "Ok we are good." Rifkinn smiles quietly to himself. You follow Perune out. Uryutis says to Mazrian, "I gave a lecture a while back still holding a chicken leg. I didn't even realize until someone asked why I had been swinging it around in the questions after." Perune's group went into the Riverhaven meeting hall. Perune's group went through a cypress door. [Riverside Meeting Room] A large mural of Riverhaven proper covers the low walls of the meeting room, and small blue flowers grow in stone pots in one corner. Several rows of high-backed benches are arranged in the center of the room, each roughly carved from sturdy strips of waterproofed oak. A small window looks out on the river below, though part of it is taken up by the ship docked nearby. You also see a speaker's podium and a cypress door. Also here: Elder Liurilias who is emanating a bright holy aura, Rifkinn, Favored Marssi, Knight Magister Saragos, Mazrian, Hodierna's Fist Kaelie, Song Phoenix Blackmuse who is trailed by a discombobulated shadow jumping in and out of view, Singer Shannera, Fickle Wind Qiyan, Perune and Scholar of the Grove Uryutis. Obvious exits: none. Rifkinn quietly says to Marssi, "I got ya." Vision Sage Miskton came through a cypress door. Rifkinn winks at Marssi. Liurilias leans on the small window, looking through it at the water. Mazrian says, "Pretty nice facility." Rifkinn asks Liurilias, "Looking for fish?" Shannera leans against a high-backed bench. Uryutis shuffles some notes around and fiddles behind the podium for a moment. Miskton says, "Evening, all." Liurilias says to Rifkinn, "Maybe." Treasure Seeker Fariden came through a cypress door. Qiyan grins. Marssi nods politely. You nod politely to Miskton. Perune says, "Evening." Rifkinn grins at Liurilias. Liurilias holds up his hand and tilts it side to side in a so-so gesture. Rifkinn chuckles. Qiyan exclaims, "This ain't what it looks like!" Perune whispers something to Saragos. Blackmuse grins. Qiyan says, "Good rum." Qiyan nods to Liurilias. Liurilias folds his arms across his chest. You whisper to Fariden, "I know you are not an elemental user -- unless you have something to share with me -- but I wanted you along as your talents may prove useful. I intend to keep you close, if you're interested." Qiyan whispers something to Blackmuse. Qiyan nods to Blackmuse. Qiyan grins. Uryutis says, "I'll wait a few minutes for people to arrive." Mazrian whispers something to Perune. Fariden whispers, "It was odd, knowing what words meant, but not any idea on the context. And I am happy to help how I can." Traim nods politely. Qiyan smiles. Liurilias waves to Traim. Marssi grins at Traim. Rifkinn nods to Traim. Traim smiles. Perune whispers something to Mazrian. Miskton nods politely to Traim. Mazrian whispers something to Perune. You whisper to Fariden, "I may be able to catch you up a bit more later." You nod politely to Traim. Mazrian nods to Perune. Kaelie rubs Mazrian's left hand. Saragos whispers something to Perune. Fariden whispers, "Not sure if you noticed, but perhaps Qiyan could heal you? Or Kaelie?" You whisper to Blackmuse, "I wonder, have we piqued your interest? Do you care to help with our experiments?" Qiyan ponders. You whisper to Fariden, "True." You ask Qiyan, "Attend to me, if you would?" Blackmuse whispers, "You all definitely have. Although.. there is much for me to learn." Qiyan clears her throat. Qiyan rubs her hands together. Mazrian says, "What is the official guild policy vis a vis disappearing inconvenient people? I don't think I've ever heard that covered during member meetings." Rifkinn whispers to your group, "So, This gnome, he is a grove keeper?" Qiyan rests her hand on your arm with a soft smile. Mazrian coughs. You whisper to Blackmuse, "Indeed. I will be gathering the Bards separately so that we can best discuss our role." A curious tingling sensation rises within you as the boundary between you and Qiyan melts away, until you feel her body as if it were your own. A bewildering nausea grips you as your mind is assailed by information from a sense that you do not possess. Just as the sensations begin to overwhelm your consciousness, the boundary between you and Qiyan dissolves completely. For a few dizzying moments you seem to occupy the same flesh. A creeping sensation of tingling coldness envelops you as Qiyan seeks to draw the hurts from your body. The pain of your wounds abruptly ceases, as if ripped forcibly from your body. The feeling of unity with Qiyan gradually ebbs away. Uryutis raises an eyebrow in Mazrian's direction. You nod to Rifkinn. Shannera gazes at Mazrian. Blackmuse nods to you. You say to Mazrian, "If they had a policy, I doubt they would share it." Saragos whispers to your group, "That's what he says, yes." Mazrian says, "You know, just for information." Mazrian dusts himself off. Traim smirks at Mazrian. Rifkinn nods to Saragos. Blackmuse whispers, "great, I am looking forward to it. " Perune whispers to your group, "The structure is a bit more complicated than that but he is a researcher for the Grove." You whisper to Shannera, "So, what do you think? Are you interested in being involved in our experiments?" Miskton stares outside for a few long moments. Shannera nods to you. Saragos whispers to your group, "He didn't show us a badge of office or anything, but he knew that the experiment was performed as we were doing it." You whisper to Shannera, "Good." Shannera leans over and whispers, "Whatever I can do to help, count me in." Kaelie whispers to your group, "That's a little scary." Qiyan whispers to your group, "somethin bout tickling the strands right?" Shannera giggles at Qiyan. Qiyan whispers to your group, "And then Perune's ears bled" Uryutis says, "As a general request, please note that this will be an academic lecture aimed primarily at users of Elemental magic. Anyone who is not disruptive may attend, but I will reserve the right to remove anyone I feel is being disruptive. Unless you've a particularly burning and urgent question, please hold them to the end." Blackmuse whispers, "please excuse my quietness.. it all seemed beyond what I was prepared for, so I was trying to connect all the dots/" Saragos whispers to your group, "Something like that. To be honest, I'm more happy that someone heard it. It's better than just fumbling around in the dark." Qiyan whispers to your group, "But there was an itch and a taste of copper" Mazrian nods at Saragos, obviously agreeing with his views. You whisper to Blackmuse, "I take quiet in a positive light. Those who are quiet are paying attention and learning, not disrupting." Uryutis says, "I'll start shortly. If you need to use the restroom or grab a quick bite to eat, now's the time." Blackmuse nods to you. Qiyan squirms. Rifkinn says, "I have my cordial." Blackmuse whispers, "Thank you for understanding. " Rifkinn nods to Uryutis. Rifkinn leans on Marssi. You whisper to Saragos, "I can't say how pleased I am never to have to use the privy like you again." Marssi smiles at Rifkinn. Saragos whispers, "The base calumny!" Mazrian asks, "Anyone have some cofee?" Mazrian asks Kaelie, "Can we bring a table in?" Blackmuse shakes his head. Uryutis grins. Traim asks Mazrian, "Close?" Mazrian says, "This is what I need." Qiyan says to Mazrian, "I have a toadstool that does the same thing." Mazrian flashes a quick grin at Qiyan. Uryutis laughs! Uryutis says, "I'll definitely be requesting more research expeditions if you all get fed this well." Uryutis takes a sip of his coffee. Mazrian flashes a quick grin at Uryutis. Qiyan grins. You whisper to Marssi, "Congratulations on completing your petition, by the way. Have you heard any response?" Uryutis asks, "Alright, I believe that's long enough. Does anyone know of people en route?" Perune says, "I notified guildmembers on the gweth, but no one specifically responded." Uryutis nods. Perune says, "Maybe they are, but.." Perune shrugs. Marssi whispers, "Oh, thank you. I've heard nothing yet. I don't know if I should be holding my breath while I wait for a response, either." Rifkinn says, "War Mages." Rifkinn rolls his eyes. You say, "I'll put out a notice on the Bard channel, but those I contacted individually are all here or made their excuses." Marssi whispers, "I'm trying to stay positive, since my guild isn't very quick to move." You whisper to Marssi, "Never wise, but I do hope for your sake that it happens." Marssi smiles. Uryutis says to you, "I trust if you publish a summary of this you'll clarify everything I say that is inarticulate and replace all my clumsy metaphors." Traim grins. [Bard][You] "Bards, a lecture is occurring now on Elemental theory, at the Riverhaven town meeting hall." You concentrate on projecting your thoughts. You nod to Uryutis. Uryutis says, "Alright, I'll get started. Please settle in." Mazrian leans back. Uryutis says, "I am Uryutis, Scholar of the Grove, and I was sent because my teacher believed that due to your guild taught vantage and the fumbling it led you to, that you all may not have the language to understand the forces at play. That you hear of the ocean, and take the pond for the seas." Mazrian rubs Kaelie's back. Rifkinn says, "Im hoping some kind of "pop up" publication might be o hand, so i can understand better." (Qiyan settles herself with determination) Qiyan says, "I believe Xionara is on her way." Uryutis says to Qiyan, "Perhaps you can catch her up if she sneaks in." Qiyan nods to Uryutis. Uryutis says to Saragos, "You sent a missive notifying of your intent, that suggested an understanding. This was why we watched, and why I was sent. Of all the things I need to make clear to you, if I can at least succeed in... reminding you what knowledge you have lost, this will be worthwhile." Commander Xionara came through a cypress door. Uryutis says, "Right. So. From the beginning." [Bard][You] "Through the cypress door. It should prove very interesting, as it is being held by a scholar of the Grove. The Grove being a group of researcher warrior mages." You concentrate on projecting your thoughts. Uryutis waves to Xionara. Xionara's tail undulates lazily through the air. Uryutis says to Xionara, "Just in time." Xionara waves to Uryutis. Xionara adjusts her icesteel-framed spectacles into place. Perune smiles at Xionara. Uryutis says, "The planes are distinct, separate, whole and pure. Their influence bleeds into our own, shaping it and making it possible. Our plane is beautiful, unique in the mingling and suffusion of these planes, a magnificent painting whose every brush stroke is wrought in the elements themselves. Where these elements mix in their pure form, you have the chaotic flow of our existence. An ocean wave painted in Water, but also Air and Earth. Where these forces manifest, the Elements provide the substance for them to do so." Xionara stands near Shannera. Xionara twitches an ear nervously. Qiyan grins at Xionara. Uryutis says, "As a side note, of academic concern, there are of course other forms of energies at play. The Immortals' will may bend our plane to their will, the course of celestial movements affects us from afar, and curiously, life itself impacts its own weight. I won't discuss these covariates at length, because they are largely outside my interest, but suffice to say, they are non-negligible influences." Shannera rubs Xionara gently, massaging her muscles. Mazrian leans forward. Uryutis whispers something to Saragos. Liurilias leans on Maltris. Maltris gently kisses Qiyan on the cheek. Qiyan kisses Maltris. And she doesn't seem to want to stop. Rifkinn winks at Maltris. Uryutis says, "As I was saying, this plane is shaped of the Elements, and all that we see is composed of their primordial influence. In the early days, we studied an Element and learned of its ways. The dance of Fire, the flow of Water, the whisper of Air, the heft of Earth. Focused study of a single Element led to its mastery, and great works were completed. These Elements form the basis of our plane, and it is no surprise that the early students of the Elements made use of their influence." Uryutis says, "I'm sure you're all aware of the history and impact of these clans, and the grave choice they made in fighting the treachery of sorcery. They pierced the Plane to stop a greater evil, and despite it all, despite what it led to, it was still a better outcome than the alternative. The Four saved us all, even given what they damaged and let in to do so." Uryutis says, "I'm not going to debate politics, but it is my view that by spreading your focus, you have diluted your understanding of the Elements, and this shows in your fumbling." Uryutis inhales a great swallow of air. Xionara looks thoughtfully at Uryutis. Rifkinn chuckles to himself. Uryutis says, "It is of course a matter of history that two additional Elements were later discovered, Electricity, and then Aether. I'm reminding you of these lessons to make sure you understand. Of the six elements, we are relatively new hands at manipulating two, and this of course makes one wonder as to what else we're missing, what we may discover tomorrow." Mazrian nods to Uryutis. Saragos nods. Uryutis fumbles his notes which flutter to the ground! He quickly scrambles to pick them up, and shuffles them a moment. You write something on a page in your oak-bound volume. Uryutis says, "Right. Electricity and Aether are fundamentally different from Fire, Water, Air and Earth. You need to remember this. They are pure Elements, yes, but they are not simply additional Elements that escaped our notice. I won't be talking of Electricity, for I am not a scholar of that Element, but I will tell you something of Aether." Mazrian nods. Perune gives a slight nod. Xionara angles her ears forward in curiosity. Uryutis says, "While the nature of Fire is to burn, and the nature of Water is to flow, these describe the behaviors of these elements, particularly as they interact with our Plane. Not so with Aether. If the Elements compose a painting of our Plane, then Aether is the canvas, or the oil in which the pigments are mixed." Uryutis says, "Aether is fundamentally different from the other Elements, and suffuses everything, giving the other Elements weight and heft. The pigments provide the color, the Aether provides the medium. This is how we observed your experiment Aether is the foundation, and with the right focus, can be probed from afar. This has been called Othersight by some, though that term describes the wrong sense." Xionara nods. Uryutis says, "Now, this is important. The canvas upon which all this sits is not fixed. It flows and ebbs, in response to various influences and whims. It mends when torn, eventually. When you summon an Ethereal Fissure or weapon from another plane, you are poking a fine hole in the canvas, a bridge that leads to another Plane, and drawing a small portion of it to you, here. These small punctures are fairly minor, and we see them repair almost the instant they are released, but the effects can be seen, even from afar." Qiyan ponders. Uryutis says, "The Void will reclaim the separation between things eventually. Aether is not, afterall, everywhere." Liurilias knits his eyebrows together in a thoughtful frown. Uryutis says, "Now, the raw elemental energy that form these weapons or fissures pour into the local area, and are disruptions to the normal cycles and processes. They are untidy blobs of color or a splash of dissolving spirits, damaging the painting for a time." Xionara taps her nose. Uryutis says, "More subtle still is the effect of the domains you called and concentrated. Each Plane has its own rules, rules distinct from our own. When you call a domain, the localized rules of our plane weaken and align to the rules of another. Imagine, perhaps, pressing a finger into the canvas of the painting, deforming it. These changes are subtle, and while they appear awfully strange from afar, like the smaller punctures, eventually relax back to normal." Uryutis says, "Individually, your actions nominally appear to be minor, pinpricks or small deformations. But we can see you all. The experimental notion was not bad, as you understood Aether to be the foundation and assumed a concentration of Aether domains would stabilize the area. But you were... clumsy, in your wielding of these forces. This doesn't surprise me, for you are Telo'Getha, successors to the Imperial Collegians. You see a rend, and you try to fill it, rather than mend it. Pack a wound with mud." Xionara smirks. Uryutis says, "Let's back up a moment, and let me explain Othersight. By tuning out the other senses, and feeling the Aetheric streams, we can induce them to carry our will, which can be directed, and reflected, lending a sense of the shape of things afar. Those of you that were able to see the streams while we were searching may not be entirely lost causes as Elementalists. Of note, Elemental charge gathered in our bodies reflects particularly well. We stand out like fireflies against the night sky..." Mazrian gazes thoughtfully at Uryutis. Uryutis says, "Relating to my penchant for poor fitting metaphors and clumsy poetry, I posit that Bards excel at detecting and responding to Aether because of their unique relationship with music. Aether is the medium through which all others manifest, similarly to how sound is the vibration of Air. We can sense the Aether that is foundational to all things by sending energies along its streams, just like a Bard can hear a single instrument played among an orchestra." Uryutis asks you, "Remember what I said earlier?" Shannera nods. You nod to Uryutis. Uryutis places his palm on your forehead and suddenly everything goes dark. You hear a loud gong, high and pure, ring out from where Uryutis is standing. Its reverberation plays off of Uryutis, and all the Warrior Mages standing nearby, clearly outlining them in a wave of sound. Another loud gong is struck, lower in pitch, and again echoes over the area, revealing the finer details of your surroundings, catching a bird in flight. A third gong rings out, impossibly low, and you sense the shape of things in the distance, bare whispers echoing against the impenetrable silent distance. After a moment, your vision returns, and Uryutis looks at you, nods, and steps back. Qiyan says, "That and its sticky." You blink. Miskton shivers. Uryutis says, "You heard that, didn't you? A trick of your sensory bias, sensitive though it may be." Shannera gazes at you. You softly say, "I... that was most extraordinary." Uryutis asks, "Care to describe it?" You take a deep breath. You give a slight nod. Perune nods at Liurilias, obviously agreeing with his views. You say, "I heard a sound not unlike a gong, high and pure, and it rang out from Uryutis's location. I heard the reverberation of it play off of him and -- come to think of it, all the other Warrior Mages here. It was as if they were clearly outlined." Xionara angles her ears forward, gazing curiously at you. Uryutis grins. Marssi raises an eyebrow. You say, "Another gong sound struck, of a lower pitch, and again I heard it echo through this area, revealing fine details. I believe I could even tell a bird was in flight." Qiyan gazes upward. Liurilias licks his lips. You say, "Finally, a much lower sound rang out, and it was as though I could sense things from a great distance. In a similar way, but... farther." Qiyan grunts at Liurilias. Uryutis nods. Uryutis says, "Always through music. Endlessly fascinating." Shannera rubs her head. Shannera looks thoughtfully at Uryutis. Perune ponders and rubs his chin. Uryutis says, "Aether lends itself to some of the more... Well, ok, enough poetry. Sensory bias is a topic for another day." Uryutis nods to you. Uryutis says to you, "Thank you for allowing the demonstration." You nod politely to Uryutis. Uryutis says, "Moving on. What you tried created a fairly concentrated area of planar instability. I had not seen anything like it in some time, and while probing the Aether streams, there was some odd resonance that got away from me, and led to Perune's head being the repository of a minor... spike. Like this..." Uryutis says, "Like..." A small ring of softly glowing aetheric energy appears, punctuated with evenly spaced bright points of light. Uryutis sweeps his hand across the ring, and a wave of light plays laterally across the display, the wave rebounding back into the ring as it bounces off the bright points. After a few moments, a pattern emerges, and the rebounding light concentrates in the center and in two concentric rings. Looking at Perune, Uryutis nods, and the light dissipates. Mazrian raises an eyebrow in Perune's direction. Xionara shifts her weight. Uryutis says to Perune, "Again, sorry about that." Whiteburn observes Uryutis with fascination. Perune shakes his head. Perune nods. Uryutis says, "Keep in mind, Aether is vital insofar as the Elements are concerned. Without Aether, there is nothing. Our Plane is unique in that it is subject to the influence of so many different planes, for better or worse, and Aether is evident, in trace amounts, everywhere you we look. And I mean everywhere." Rifkinn frowns. Rifkinn shifts his weight. Uryutis says, "Collaborations with Moon Mages entering or exiting from the Astral Plane reveals a framework of Aether, which I believe confirms my hypothesis that the Plane of Aether has suffused throughout the other Planes, making them possible. I don't believe it is merely my sensory bias - Aether is everywhere that isn't the Void." Miskton strokes his beard in thoughtful contemplation. Uryutis says, "Now, you seem singularly focused on a specific kind of planar disturbance, that of Maelshyve's incursion. As an experiment, your approach was sound after all, the sundering of Elemental energy from an area to prevent the spread of Blackfire is what gave her root in this plane in the first place. I can appreciate the view that attempts to stabilize Aether would lead to a methodology to force her out. But you weren't stabilizing this plane. You were unfortunately breaking it a little further." Uryutis says, "A small break, of course, and not a permanent one. But if you want to learn how to stabilize this plane, to accelerate the mend, you'll have to learn to weave. And I'm not sure those who have spent their lives focusing on so many Elements can appreciate the nuance of one. I don't mean to leave you with bad news, but Maelshyve will not be forced out by Telo'Getha brute force." Uryutis winks at Saragos. Uryutis says to Saragos, "As I said... Impressive." Saragos chuckles. Liurilias knits his eyebrows together in a thoughtful frown. Xionara frowns at Uryutis. Uryutis says, "The resonance you accidentally caused gave me some ideas however, modifications to an experimental process that may hold merit. The right thing was done when the Four cast the Voidspell, but the mess still needs mending. And they knew nothing of Aether at the time of their works." Uryutis coughs. Uryutis says, "Right. So, I'm not sure this is what you wanted to hear. But, for what it's worth, the effort was a noble one. If you've any questions, I'll answer what I can. Thank you for your time." You applaud. Traim mumbles a word of general praise. Raising his Black Fox coffee to Uryutis, Mazrian gives him a toast. Qiyan says, "Thank you sir." Liurilias raises his hand. Miskton jots down some notes. Xionara folds her arms across her chest. Whiteburn nods to Uryutis. Miskton nods to Traim. Shannera pats Xionara on the back. Xionara glances at Shannera. Uryutis stretches his arms. Qiyan exclaims, "Question!" Qiyan raises her hand. Uryutis points at Qiyan. You quietly say to Uryutis, "I believe Father Liurilias has one also." Liurilias shifts his weight. Saragos raises his hand. Rifkinn whispers something to Whiteburn. Qiyan says, "Should I let him go first." Qiyan gnaws on her lip. You nod to Qiyan. Liurilias waves his hand distractedly. You say, "Go on, Father." Fariden whispers, "I have ponderings and theories that this lecture reminded me of, but what perplexes me the most is... How did he so casually place his palm on your forehead? Did I miss a stepstool?" Perune rubs his head. You whisper to Fariden, "Did you not see me kneel down at his request?" You whisper to Fariden, "OOC: Clearly that's what happened, right?!" Liurilias asks Uryutis, "When you say that Aether is a fundamental part of all things, based on that foundation, would it be possible to weave multiple mana types together to create a more cohesive containment for demonic influences?" Uryutis winces. Fariden whispers, "OOC: Mmmhmm..." Mazrian coughs. Qiyan winces. Shannera covers her mouth with her hand. Kaelie wrinkles her nose. Traim raises an eyebrow. Qiyan exclaims, "I was not gonna ask that!" Rifkinn says to Liurilias, "Im glad it was you that asked that question." Xionara begins chortling at Liurilias. Traim smiles. Liurilias says to Rifkinn, "It needed asking." Traim nods at Liurilias, obviously agreeing with his views. Uryutis asks Liurilias, "Before I answer, can you clarify if you mean... the creation of a ward or similar that utilizes multiple mana types, or actually weaving multiple mana types together?" Whiteburn nods to Liurilias. Liurilias says to Uryutis, "The former." Fariden whispers, "I must have missed it. I was thinking about my theory about why Necromancy is extra harmful to extraplanar creatures. A theory I formed when the starlight math elementals were invading." Whiteburn says to Liurilias, "A goodly question, Grand Inquisitor." You whisper to Fariden, "Oh really? We will have to discuss more later." Traim whispers something to Liurilias. Liurilias nods at Traim, obviously agreeing with his views. [General][Aaoskar] "we will be meeting in Taisgath in 20 rois. Moongates will be available from the Crossing Moonmage Guild to Taisgath" Liurilias whispers something to Traim. Uryutis says, "I'm going to answer you academically, and apologize if my delivery is impolite or impolitic. What you are suggesting, as a practitioner of Holy Magic, is what led to Blackfire, is the foundation of some horrible sorceries." Uryutis says, "The Elements are pure, and should be separate." Qiyan hiccups. Liurilias cocks his head. Uryutis says, "The combination of mana is most unwise." [General][Chawguay] "what's going on in TAisgath?" Rifkinn says, "A polite way of putting it." Rifkinn folds his arms across his chest. Saragos nods. Uryutis says to Liurilias, "I trust the question was intended as a hypothetical." Xionara laughs! Liurilias cocks his head at Uryutis. Xionara laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement. You ask, "Perhaps the Inquisitor is asking more toward what other guilds might do to help, especially toward the problem of Maelshyve?" [General][Aaoskar] "if anyone wants to banner the area or offer protections, that is welcome too" Liurilias says to Uryutis, "Perhaps I phrased it poorly but I suppose that is something of an answer at any rate." Uryutis says, "It's important to understand though, so please, don't take offense at the bluntness of my answer." Fariden asks, "Users of different pure elements that are different working together, perhaps?" Xionara gets an odd expression on her face. Liurilias says to Uryutis, "I am not offended by honesty. I value practicality." Uryutis says, "I believe a sufficiently constructed ward may make use, separately, perhaps, modularly, of different mana types. But these energies must remain separate, for they will contaminate and corrupt one another." You "<to Aaoskar>" "I am caught up in something at the moment, unfortunately, but I will attend if I am able to finish in time. I still do not support the acceptance of Necromancers at such meetings." You project your thoughts to Aaoskar. Whiteburn says to Uryutis, "Of course. The cross-ontamination of mana is strictly unacceptable." Perune nods. Uryutis nods to Whiteburn. Liurilias asks Uryutis, "But a construct of that sort would be feasible because of the foundation they each share with Aether?" [Personal][Aaoskar] "<to you>" "i sure hope we find a banner" You "<to Aaoskar>" "You might have difficulty enticing holy Paladins to you while you consort with the profane." You project your thoughts to Aaoskar. Uryutis says, "The other energies may impact one another yes, but this is... often destructive, always chaotic." Rifkinn whispers something to Marssi. [Personal][Aaoskar] "<to you>" "hopefully, they would see that it is to protect. but i understand your point" Liurilias taps one claw against his triquetra pendant thoughtfully. Uryutis says, "Well... See, covariates." Marssi smiles at Rifkinn. Liurilias says to Uryutis, "I apologize for detracting from your main point then." Uryutis shakes his head. Rifkinn nods at Marssi, obviously agreeing with her views. Uryutis says, "A question that needed asking." Uryutis says, "I did not mean to insult you with my answer." Uryutis nods to Liurilias. You motion to Qiyan. You whisper to Qiyan, "Well done holding your tongue." Qiyan fidgets nervously. Qiyan nods. Qiyan clears her throat. Perune asks Qiyan, "You also had a question?" Qiyan says, "Yes... I do." Qiyan says, "A two'er." Qiyan nods. Qiyan says, "Cuz I been thinkin." Qiyan nods. Perune nods. Qiyan says, "So ya mentioned ya ain't seen anythin like the planar instability that this lil group caused with the experiment... in awhile." Qiyan asks, "This means ya had before?" Qiyan asks, "And what caused it that time?" Uryutis smiles. Qiyan says, "Shucks that was two questions I meant as one." Qiyan exclaims, "I got another!" Kaelie grins at Qiyan. You say to Qiyan, "One at a time. Let him answer this one." Qiyan gnaws on her lip. You say, "I am training her in the art of questioning." Xionara whispers something to Shannera. Shannera nods at Xionara, obviously agreeing with her views. Shannera frowns at Xionara. Rifkinn says to you, "Good luck." Rifkinn pats you on the back. The tip of Whiteburn's tail makes lazy circles in the air. You grin at Rifkinn. Rifkinn smirks. Rifkinn winks at Qiyan. Qiyan says to you, "I hope I ain't bein graded." Xionara's ears droop for a moment. Liurilias says to Qiyan, "You are." You pat Qiyan on the back. Commander Xionara went through a cypress door. Qiyan gazes down at the floor. [General][Tiari] "how do we know these shadow creatures are not dangerous?" Liurilias scratches one ear, looking bemused. You whisper to Shannera, "Is something wrong with that Warrior Mage?" Uryutis says, "The first was when a particularly drunk but talented peer of mine thought one of the fundamentals of the Plane of Aether would help him get home quicker. It did not. The second was when a particularly talented group of Bards gathered for a rather unforgettable concert." Shannera nods to you. Qiyan laughs! [General][You] "Most shadow creatures are quite violent. You should be prepared for such if you attend." Qiyan says, "Well that sounds like a dern good story... maybe fer another time." Uryutis smiles at Qiyan. [General][Lenaea] "We will summon shadowlings and shadow servants. The kinds of creatures you see on a daily basis." Qiyan says, "Because I need to get my second question that turned into a third out before I'm cut off." [General][Rifkinn] "We dont and this lecture is a lecture that is meddling with a rather dangerous force." Qiyan nods. Qiyan asks, "Is it self mendin?" Qiyan asks, "Self healin?" Uryutis raises an eyebrow. Qiyan says, "Ya sorta alluded to it bein so." [General][Gamalon] "They are cute and cuddly" Qiyan says, "The lil punctures get healed up." Uryutis asks, "Are you asking if there's a distinction, or if our Plane will gradually restore itself?" Qiyan nods. [General][Chawguay] "Sounds like something far beyond this young barbarian's ability. Maybe one day. Be safe in your endeavour." Qiyan asks, "Yes?" Uryutis grins. [General][Aaoskar] "if you want to ask questions, feel free to come Chawguay" [General][Lenaea] "All are welcome to ask questions, and we also welcome any who want to offer protections, including Banners of Truce or other enchantments of that sort." [General][Rifkinn] "Chawguay, it is never beyond ones ability to watch follishness at play" [General][Aaoskar] "and we need people from different races. we want to try every language we can" Rifkinn grins at Qiyan. Traim raises his hand. Uryutis says, "To the former, I honestly don't know, I suppose that's a question that comes from your cognitive bias, and maybe with enough conversation you could help me come to an answer, or lead me to many more questions. To the latter, yes, the Plane does gradually go back to normal. The Fissures close, the weapons scatter, the laws revert." Marssi leans on Rifkinn. Shannera whispers, "It's not my place to say. She is going through something. Nothing is wrong with her, but wrong was done to her." [General][Chawguay] "I am but a simple tog of one circle...seems I would be more of a liability. " Whiteburn gazes thoughtfully at Uryutis. Qiyan exclaims to Uryutis, "Thank ya sir, ya done well leavin me with more to question!" Uryutis says to Qiyan, "And you as well." Uryutis grins at Qiyan. You whisper to Shannera, "That is fine. I hope she finds peace." [General][Nogardian] "i guess if you get no other murr i'll show up" You say, "I believe Saragos is next, then Traim." Perune raises his hand. Shannera whispers, "As do I." Uryutis asks, "I personally wouldn't attribute Life to the Plane, as much as a... tendency to want to be a given way? But maybe that's what Life does too?" Uryutis looks at Qiyan and shrugs. Uryutis points at Saragos. [General][Chawguay] "sounds intriguing however" Traim whispers, "I may not have time, I am going to need to go make sure Aaoskar doesn't explode anything. If was going to ask if aether can be affected by non-elemental spells or influences, or whether aether reacts only to elemental approaches." Saragos asks, "When we're talking about the damage done by the Voidspell, is there any fundamental difference in what's happening due to the size of the tear? To go back to the canvas analogy, a hole could be a pinprick around the threads. Are we looking at fundamentally torn 'threads'?" You whisper to Traim, "I will ask it for you if you like. I need your eyes on Aaoskar as well." Traim whispers, "Thank you, I appreciate that." Liurilias nods politely. You whisper to Traim, "I'm going to ask Fariden if he'd like to go since he can speak all languages. If so, I'd ask that the two of you look out for each other." Uryutis says, "Magnitude. The difference is one of magnitude." Liurilias softly says, "Pardon me." Elder Liurilias went through a cypress door. You whisper to Fariden, "Are you wanting to stay here or head to Aaoskar's event? I already have eyes on it, but with your language ability I thought you might be interested." Traim bows. Uryutis nods to Traim. Uryutis says, "The Voidspell was not merely poking a needle through a canvas, or pressing your finger against it. It was throwing a hunk of molten iron at said canvas." You say, "Traim had to step out, but he told me his question." Uryutis nods to you. Uryutis says to you, "Thank you for moderating." Fariden whispers, "I'd probably be more useful there, aye? I was curious what Traim was going to say, seeing what he said on the gweth the other andu." Saragos nods to Uryutis. You say, "It seems to be my natural state." You flash a quick grin at Uryutis. [Personal][Traim] "<to you>" "I will keep an eye on him if I can. I'm heading to the Crossing moon mage guild for the gate." Uryutis says to Saragos, "And to be clear, that was still better than what Blackfire was doing." [General][Aaoskar] "opening moongates from Crossing Moonmage guild to Taisgath" You say, "Traim's question was if aether can be affected by non-elemental spells or influences, or whether aether reacts only to elemental approaches." Uryutis says to Saragos, "Blackfire was a rot that was spreading." Uryutis nods to you. Saragos furrows his brow. Whiteburn says, "Indeed..." You whisper to Fariden, "Certainly, go if you like. I'd ask that you and Traim look out for one another there. There is a moon gate from the Crossing or I can ask him to rift you in once he's there." Fariden whispers, "I'll see if I can dash back to Crossing to catch it." You nod to Fariden. Uryutis says, "A good question. Simply put, yes. The more detailed answer is 'It's complicated'. I'm not particularly knowledgeable of other mana types, but can indeed see deformations or impacts or influence from high concentrations." You whisper to Fariden, "Be safe. There may be Necromancers." You nod to Uryutis. You ask, "Any examples?" Fariden whispers, "Oh, at the very least I know there will be one who aids them there." Perune says, "The manastorm would be a clear one." You whisper to Fariden, "Lenaea is married to Aaoskar, so. Yes." Uryutis says, "As I mentioned, collaborations with Moon Mages have revealed glimpses of Aether suffusing through their open Moongates when they access the Astral Plane." Uryutis nods to Perune. Uryutis says, "The manastorm would be one." Fariden waves. Treasure Seeker Fariden went through a cypress door. Uryutis says, "But the Immortals can certainly impact the Elements, use them even." Whiteburn nods. Uryutis says, "Othersight lends some interesting perspective." Uryutis says, "Because the other mana types do impact it, and often it is not quite clear why, or how." Shannera ponders. Uryutis says, "Shame Traim left, I was curious if he had any insight into his question regarding the prophecy he was mulling over." You ask, "Which prophecy do you mean?" Whiteburn's eyes darken with thought, and her tail grows very still. Uryutis says, "He said he saw an Elemental Maelstrom stirring the Web of Fate, and wanted to know if I had any insight." Perune nods. Miskton nods. Rifkinn asks, "And?" Rifkinn asks, "Do you?" Uryutis laughs! Saragos grins at Rifkinn. Uryutis says, "I told him to try investigating an Elemental Maelstrom more closely." Uryutis says, "That maybe one of the Warrior Mages present had some ties to the vision." Uryutis shrugs. You say, "Ah. Well." You glance at Miskton, a male Human. Perune says, "Charging madly into the future." Saragos says, "We actually did see something else related to that... just a moment..." Rifkinn chuckles. You say, "The Vision Sage and I did do some investigating." Uryutis says to Perune, "One experiment at a-." Uryutis glances at Saragos. Perune snickers. You ask Miskton, "Would you like to share the vision?" Qiyan gnaws on her lip. Miskton nods. Shannera ponders. Miskton says, "Let's see..." Rifkinn says, "You know how many disarterous visitions begin with "lets See" from this one." Rifkinn motions to Miskton. Qiyan smirks. Miskton says, "Just a moment, there we go..." Rifkinn coughs. You chortle softly at some secret joke. Uryutis takes a sip of his coffee. Miskton says, "Everything went black, and I heard the slight fluttering of wings in the distance. A soft series of chirps echoed through me, and as the sound bounced off various obstructions and terrain, I somehow became aware of their location and features. As it circled, the source of the chirps seemed to scan the area, and I could sense more and more of my surroundings. next to me stood a proud Dwarf, who gazed upward with his eyes closed, his hand held to the sky. The source of the chirps, a pure black bat, landed on his open hand. The bat cocked its head towards me, and the chirps intensified, though did not appear to be able to detect my presence. The vision faded." Uryutis raises an eyebrow. Uryutis gets a bat talisman from inside his steelsilk cloak. Uryutis says, "Hmm." Uryutis puts his talisman in his steelsilk cloak. You say, "Saragos and I were with him. We could not determine who the Dwarf might be, though perhaps you could tell us." Rifkinn asks Uryutis, "You mentioned your.... mentor? earlier?" Rifkinn asks, "A Dwarf?" Perune says to Miskton, "A bit more direct than most of what you see." Miskton nods. Whiteburn frowns thoughtfully. Shannera whispers, "I'm going to observe this Moon Mage gathering and see what there is to see" Uryutis says, "Atraiko... Er... Yes. The Grovekeeper I study under is a Dwarf." Uryutis coughs. You whisper to Shannera, "All right, but be very careful. It's dangerous." Shannera nods to you. You whisper to Shannera, "I'm going to tell Traim and Fariden to watch out for you." Uryutis says, "Moon Mages are an odd lot." Perune says to Uryutis, "Fasincating. People have seen you." Perune says, "Or seen from you." Miskton says to Uryutis, "Can't really argue there." Miskton grins wryly. Uryutis says to Saragos, "How do you mean? The vision appears to be of my teacher." Shannera nods to you. Singer Shannera went through a cypress door. You say to Uryutis, "We did persist in attempting to see more of the maelstrom, but its features remained the same." Uryutis ponders. Miskton nods. Perune says, "Sounds like the view is of the person standing next to the teacher, with a bat." Miskton says, "I thought perhaps filtering the vision through an elemental magic user might help, but it did not appear to work." You "<to Traim>" "A young woman, Shannera, is also planning to attend that event. I ask that you and Fariden watch over her, please." You project your thoughts to Traim. Perune says, "But maybe I don't understand visions well. I'm not fond of most of them." Uryutis grins at Perune. Uryutis says, "More art than science." [Personal][Traim] "<to you>" "I'll keep my eye out." Saragos says to Uryutis, "We couldn't know for sure if it was your teacher. We also thought it was interesting - the Moon Mages tend not to have visions related to casual meetings. This may not be related to the Maelstrom, or it may be related indirectly." Perune says, "Only so many times one can debate whether that color or the child over there means Sorrow is returning." Uryutis says, "But then, such is the nature of a discussion on Aether. We begin discussing patterns, and end discussing prophecy. I certainly hope my teacher is alright." Qiyan smirks at Perune. Uryutis asks, "Alright, one last question before I leave?" Perune nods. Perune says, "I have one." You frown. Perune says, "Well I can probably have several, but one that is pressing." Uryutis nods to Perune. You say, "I did also have one, if there's time." Saragos grins at Perune. Uryutis nods to you. Uryutis says, "I'll take two." Uryutis says, "Go ahead." Perune asks, "You mentioned having ideas on how to fix modify the work. Are you interested in working with us more directly on the next steps and experimentation?" Rifkinn quietly says to you, "You been hanging around Qiyan to long." Rifkinn smirks at you. You raise an eyebrow in Rifkinn's direction. Qiyan covers her mouth with her hand. Uryutis says to Perune, "I am, but I'm to deliver my report following this lecture, and await instruction. My report will include the request to continue working with you, but I go where I'm told." Saragos nods to Uryutis. Uryutis says, "As I said, I believe there's more to be gained from open communication than secrecy, but, I'm merely a scholar." Perune says, "Please inform them that we'll be continuing onward, based on your observations and lecture, and we thank them for sending you." Uryutis smiles at Perune. Whiteburn nods. You nod in agreement. Uryutis nods to you. Uryutis asks you, "Yes?" Perune says, "Maybe you could also subtly suggest that we take our Duty seriously and are trying to save the world." Qiyan nods in agreement. Saragos says to Uryutis, "You might add that since Moon Mages are having visions relating to you and your teacher, that they should weigh extra heavily the benefits of continued cooperation." Saragos says, "Just a thought." Saragos grins. Uryutis smiles. You say to Uryutis, "I believe I can speak on behalf of most Bards when I say I am intrigued by what I experienced earlier. I of course would be most interested in learning such a technique, and refining it as my musical ability allows. I would welcome negotiations between our guilds and wonder what the chances are of such." Uryutis chuckles. Uryutis says to you, "That is no small request, though I will include it in my report. While I believe your sort has a particular knack for sensing and manipulating Aether, it's not a commonly held view." You nod politely to Uryutis. You say, "Of course." You say, "I've also developed some of my own theories for how Bards may aid in our future experiments, so I will be keen to speak to you on that front if you are allowed to converse further with us." Uryutis says, "Your crux is a step removed from the direct application of the Elements. It works, well in many cases, but some hold that makes you less." Uryutis nods to you. Uryutis says, "As always, feel free to send any missives or reports to us. We do read them." You nod to Uryutis. Perune nods to Uryutis. Uryutis smiles. You ask, "Makes us less, you say?" Perune says, "If they deem to send you elsewhere, if you have the bat inform us, we'd appreciate it." Uryutis says to Perune, "I'm sure he'd love that." Uryutis rolls his eyes. Perune says, "Otherwise we will likely wait to hear from you to see if you are able to assist further." Saragos quietly says to you, "Now dear..." Rifkinn says to Marssi, "He has a bat." You glance at Saragos, a male Human. Rifkinn motions to Uryutis. Qiyan grins at Marssi. Marssi grins at Rifkinn. Uryutis says to you, "They feel it is... as if you are wearing thick gloves while doing fine work. I feel it provides you a finer instrument with which to do said work." You nod to Uryutis. Miskton marks a page and closes his astronomer's journal, securing the clasp. Uryutis looks at you and shrugs. Uryutis says, "Lowly scholar, etcetera." You say, "I would stridently argue for the opportunity to learn regardless of that perspective. I believe that different viewpoints can only enhance the overall picture of what we know." Uryutis smiles. Uryutis nods. Uryutis says, "Alright everyone. Thank you for your time. I must take my leave." You nod to Uryutis. Uryutis says, "Please be safe with your future experiments." Qiyan says, "Thank ya again sir." Perune nods. Whiteburn says, "There is naught that would be deemed lowly in the pursuit of knowledge." You say, "Allow me to thank you on behalf of all those here. It was most enlightening." Uryutis gazes upwards at you and hails you with a clenched fist over his heart and a respectful nod in an attempt at the traditional Kaldaran greeting. Close enough. You briefly drop to one knee as you hail Uryutis with a clenched fist over your heart and a respectful nod. Miskton praises Uryutis. Uryutis waves. Scholar of the Grove Uryutis went through a cypress door. Maltris paces back and forth, scowling slightly at his surroundings. Maltris mutters to himself. You pat Maltris on the back. Maltris says, "I need wilderness." You say to Maltris, "Go get some air." Miskton says, "Well... Now to go see what the other members of my guild are up to on Taisgath this evening." Shadow Tracker Maltris went through a cypress door. Rifkinn says, "And Maltris is getting antsy." Perune slowly empties his lungs. You nod to Miskton. Whiteburn says, "I must attend to other business, at the moment." Saragos grins at Miskton. You say, "I intend to step over to Taisgath myself and see what they are getting up to." Saragos says to Miskton, "Thanks for coming." Whiteburn says to Miskton, "I pray that you survive their foolishness." Miskton says, "Take care, all." Perune says, "Don't let demon-friend Aaoskar and his Necromancer hugging wife destroy everything." Miskton nods politely. Whiteburn mutters to herself. Whiteburn glances about in disdain and snarls a bitter prayer. Vision Sage Miskton went through a cypress door. You are distracted for just a moment by a sharp whistle from the shadows. You look back towards Whiteburn, but she is simply no longer there. Rifkinn says to you, "Just so im clear....." You glance at Rifkinn, a male Halfling. Rifkinn asks you, "We are still keeping all of this quiet?" You nod. Rifkinn nods to you. You say, "Yes. Technically this was a public lecture but I didn't see any others in attendance." You say, "However, there is a good chance we will convene and decide to write it up in an article." Rifkinn says, "Well i didnt see anything being directly discussed in public... so." You say, "Just... don't say anything until you see it in print." Rifkinn nods. Perune ponders. Rifkinn says, "Gotcha, hold my tounge untill i see the headlines... War Mages blow a greater the size of kearnea." You chortle softly at some secret joke. Rifkinn winks at Perune. Marssi grins at Rifkinn. Qiyan clucks her tongue and shakes her head. You say to Rifkinn, "Thank you for attending, by the way. I know it's not exactly your wheelhouse, but I like to keep you two informed." Marssi says, "Thanks for letting me sit in and listen." Saragos says, "Yeah, we appreciate your coming." You smile at Marssi. Rifkinn says to you, "Thank you, knowlage is always a good thing, plus my attentions are starting to turn more towards the impacts of magic on our lands." You nod in agreement. Saragos nods to Rifkinn. You say, "Now, I'm going to see if I can get a rift." |
