Lower
Lowers a held weapon as a role-playing action, or places a held item in the at-feet inventory slot when used with GROUND. Some items define their own special LOWER behavior.
LOWER <weapon> You see: You lower your <weapon>, relaxing your guard. Others see: <Name> lowers <his/her> <weapon>, relaxing <his/her> guard. LOWER <item> TO GROUND You see: You lower the <item> and place it on the ground at your feet. Others see: Nothing. LOWER GROUND [RIGHT/LEFT] You see: You lower the <item> and place it on the ground at your feet. Others see: Nothing. LOWER <instrument> (item-specific) You see: You gently lower your <instrument> to the ground. Others see: <Name> gently sets <his/her> <instrument> to the ground. Failures You see: What did you want to lower? You see: You aren't holding the <item>. You see: There is no point in lowering <item>, since it isn't very threatening. You see: But you aren't holding anything in your <hand> hand! You see: You find the area at your feet is too cluttered for that! You see: You go to lower the <item>, and find the area near your feet is too cluttered!

Syntax

• LOWER <weapon>

Lowers a held weapon, relaxing your guard without releasing it.

• LOWER <item> GROUND
• LOWER <item> TO GROUND

Places the specified held item in your at-feet inventory slot.

• LOWER GROUND

Places the item in your right hand at your feet.

• LOWER GROUND RIGHT/LEFT

Places the item in the indicated hand at your feet.

Usage:

       LOWER [WEAPON]
       LOWER GROUND            - places item in right hand at your feet
       LOWER GROUND RIGHT/LEFT - place item in indicated hand at your feet

Notes

• The at-feet slot can hold up to 15 items. An attempt to place another item there fails with a clutter message.
• Bare LOWER <ITEM> does not normally place an ordinary non-weapon item at your feet. Some items, including musical instruments, provide their own LOWER behavior that may set the item gently on the room ground instead.
• Gentle placement can protect fragile items that would be damaged by DROP. The supported behavior depends on the item.
• Items placed at your feet remain associated with your character rather than becoming ordinary room inventory.
