Song
"The Manor of Dunshade", by Brealin Forecaster.
- "I'd adventured alone for far too long
- My only companions my lute and my song
- When one bright eve I took an invitation
- To chance my soul and eternal salvation."
- "The party comprised of the best to be had.
- An Empath, a Paladin and a Barbarian lad.
- No haler folk could be found in the realm
- "My bones in one hand, hanger in the other.
- I played the Lilt and thought of my mother.
- I prayed she would not receive a summons
- To bury my body ripped apart by the dark ones!"
- "Drawing a breath to steady my sound,
- I asked my friends just where we were bound.
- The Barbarian answered with a smile too slow --
- Down into the Manor of Dunshade we go!"
- "We twisted and turned down hallways so drear'
- I hoped I'd notice when the fiends drew near.
- And all the while the Barbarian droned --
- Down into the Manor of Dunshade we go!"
- "Suddenly, we were set upon!
- The Barbarian lad burst into song.
- The fierce aria of war rang thru the hall
- Of my companions and me, not one did fall."
- "The Barb himself was like a fiend from hell.
- He swung with ease and the death spirits fell.
- I tried to advance into the fray
- But nothing was left for this Bard to slay."
- "At first there were two, then three -- no four!
- The spirits kept coming 'til I couldn't count anymore.
- The Barbarian just laughed and with a killing grace
- Cleared the whole manor of the death spirit race."
- "For hours we battled in that dark place
- 'Twas a warrior's dance with a deadly embrace.
- While under my breath I sang soft and low --
- Down into the Manor of Dunshade we go!"
- "The evening, it ended, as most evenings do,
- With laughter and cheer and bit of the brew.
- We'd gained quite a profit off the fiends of hell
- And one by one we gave our farewells."
- "But the memory of that night with me remains
- And always I hear the echoing refrain
- Of the Barbarian lad with a smile too slow --
- Down into the Manor of Dunshade we go!"
- "Down into the Manor of Dunshade we go!"
The song ends on a triumphant note.
