About as long as a Halfling is tall, this river caiman is a dull olive-green, with faded black spots and a slightly yellowish color along its underbelly. The common name derives from the bony ridge along the front of the eyes, lending it the appearance of wearing spectacles. It's common to spot these creatures from the decks of ships and barges along the Faldesu as they bask in the sun or float lazily in the water. They're usually not aggressive, but have been known to get particularly ravenous when food supplies are low -- unfortunately, this specimen seems to fall in this latter category. |

Description
About as long as a Halfling is tall, this river caiman is a dull olive-green, with faded black spots and a slightly yellowish color along its underbelly. The common name derives from the bony ridge along the front of the eyes, lending it the appearance of wearing spectacles. It's common to spot these creatures from the decks of ships and barges along the Faldesu as they bask in the sun or float lazily in the water. They're usually not aggressive, but have been known to get particularly ravenous when food supplies are low -- unfortunately, this specimen seems to fall in this latter category.
From the anatomy chart
Nearly four feet in length, the river caiman is a dull green color, designed to blend with the river water and banks it travels. A bony ridge over its eyes protects the creature from water debris, and the yellowish underbelly allows it to hide from any predators that may be swimming beneath.
