Introduced in Fun-Day Fridays 86.
Description
Though a child of its species, the sovamedo cub is still a sizeable creature possessed of brutish strength and agility and a keen instinct to kill and devour its prey. The owl- and bear-like features so obvious in the elder sovamedo are less defined in the cub, but a fine layer of lightly colored fur covers its lower body while short, dark feathers wreath its neck. Fledgling claws peek out from the tip of each paw. The sovamedo cub primarily moves about on all fours, as its balance when standing on its hind legs hasn't fully developed.
Recall
You recall that the sovamedo cubs are rumored to be born with the same fierce temperment as the adults.
They will sometimes attack their clutch mates and any unhatched eggs if not carefully watched by the elders. The cubs typically reach their full height and weight within two seasons. The intelligence seen in adult sovamedo is lacking in their youth. Some specimens have been seen to take no notice of fatal plunges or other obvious dangers. However, the cub is an instinctive hunter and requires little guidance from its mother to develop the skills necessary to track, kill and devour its prey.
They are not known to cast any recognized spells.
They are not known to carry loot in locked boxes.
In Depth
Special Attacks
With a raspy, bad-tempered rumble, a sovamedo cub lurches forward, leaving deep gouges in the dirt as it swipes at you with ursine claws. You deflect the attack with your diamondwood shield, the lack of captured prey enraging the cub and it lets out an ear-splitting screech.
