Whirlwind (ability)
Requirements: Unknown
Difficulty: None
Type / Skill: other / -
Contest: Unknown vs. Unknown
Description: Whirlwind is the ability to make simultaneous attacks on all targets within your weapon's reach.
Effect: The user attacks everything within range. If minimums are met, both main and offhand weapons make the attack against each target. It can also be used to remove webs from the user, or another.
Messaging: Tensing your body and reaching deep within yourself, you feel the fire build until you are almost ablaze with energy. It courses into your arms and legs as you begin to spin until you are a blur of whirling destruction.

Your sterak axe lands a hard hit to an arthelun cabalist's right arm!
Your war hammer lands a good strike to an arthelun cabalist's chest!
Your sterak axe lands a solid hit to an arthelun cabalist's left arm!
Your war hammer lands a good strike to an arthelun cabalist's abdomen!
Your sterak axe lands a hard hit to an arthelun cabalist's right leg!
Your war hammer lands a good strike to an arthelun cabalist's right arm!
[You're adeptly balanced]
Roundtime: 4 sec.

Notes

  • The Whirlwind ability is a Barbarian only combat ability which allows strikes on multiple targets within the weapon's range. With sufficient skill, Whirlwind has the ability to utilize dual wielding, making one attack with each weapon on everything within range.
  • It should be noted that there is a large defensive penalty associated with Whirlwind, making this maneuver dangerous to use at level. Many Barbarians feel that this move is intended to be a finishing move primarily, however when combined with our immobilizing Roar Banshee's Wail, or the stunning Roar Lash of Torment, it can be a deadly mid-sequence attack.
  • Recently, the defensive penalty was reduced, and many elder Barbarians claim that it is now a viable hunting tool.
  • There is also another use for Whirlwind, to remove oneself or others from webbing, such as a Ranger's Harawep's Bonds.
  • When you knockdown four with Earthquake (either at a time or cumulatively over several pulses) you have 10s for an improved Whirlwind. The whirlwind is balance neutral, does increased damage, and only does 2s of RT.
  • Lastly, and perhaps of most use, Whirlwind will attempt an attack on anything within range, including unseen opponents. If timed right, it can be an effective deterrent against foes with superior Hiding skill or invisibility.

Offhand whirlwind first observed occurring around 345 Offhand.
