Fishing is an alternate way to learn Foraging, Animal Lore, some Mechanical Lore, and Skinning. There are no requirements to fish other than possessing the proper gear.

How to Fish

To start fishing you need to find a dock or waterfront location. Now to test if you can fish in the area, attempt to CAST POLE while holding an open fishing pole. If you are able to fish there, you will cast your line out. If not you will get the messaging,

You can't cast the fishing pole here.  Try finding a body of water.

Most fishing poles are collapsible, meaning you close them to fit them into containers. They must be opened before use however.

Fishing commands:

1. OPEN MY POLE to open your pole taking it out of storage mode.
2. LOOK MY POLE to check the status of the pole.
3. GET <BAIT> FROM BOX to bait the hook, the box of bait can be inside another container.
4. CAST MY POLE and wait for a tug on your fishing pole.
5. PULL MY POLE repeatedly until you land the fish or bring in all the line empty.

While your line is in the water you can LOOK MY POLE to see how far out your line is, the maximum seems to be 100 feet. You can PUSH MY POLE and let more line out, PULL MY POLE to bring more in, you can also WAVE MY POLE to wiggle your line around, although it does not seem to do any good.

What to do With Your Fish

After you have caught a fish you have a few options.

• You can stow your fish away to catch more without putting your pole away.
• You can put your pole away, get out your "hook and string" PUT <FISH> ON STRING and wear your string, but you will not be able to remove the fish from the string.
