A significantly worse outcome than a Backfire, a socercerous backlash is a spell failure that results from infusing a spell pattern with a type of mana other than the one it was designed. Some combinations of mana are more dangerous than others because of differences in the way that magic in that type of mana behaves. Necromancers have a reduced danger to backlash because of thier guild's focus on the arcane.
- Most dangerous combination: Life with Holy or Elemental with Lunar
- Least dangerous combination: Elemental and Life or Lunar and Holy
Effects
Effects are very severe, ranging from bodily dismemberment to complete disintigration.
