Penelope the Lich possessed a Music Box which allowed her to hear the music of the souls of children. These powerful items, believed by some to be the prophesied Deceivers, cause insanity in the hands of any living being. Penelope, being undead, was protected from the magic of the Music Box, and so it was able to help her. It was lost upon her death.

As it turned out, the box indeed seems to have held a piece of the Deceiver Artifact. The box itself is now lost - though some believe the Mountain Elves to be in possession of it - and the Deceiver has turned to slag.
