Introduced in Fun-Day Fridays 86.
Description
The sovamedo is a curious creature with characteristics of both an owl and a bear. It has thick limbs that enable it to swiftly cover large distances on all fours, though when defending its territory, it is more commonly seen standing on its two hind legs to allow great, sweeping strikes from its forearms. Vicious, curved claws protrude from each massive paw, and a similarly wicked beak accentuates the golden, intensely intelligent eyes and horns of its owl-like head. Long, colorful feathers adorn the beast's upper body while golden fur grows out from beneath the plumage to cover it from its broad shoulders down.
Recall
You recall that the s are known to grab their victims in a crushing bear hug. The curious beasts are a strange hybrid between bear and owl, though how or when such a creature came to be has long been lost to the ages. The sovamedo is the subject of an old children's rhyme. While the exact verse escapes your memory now, you do recall that the rhyme conveyed what the creature most often feels: anger and hunger. Legend claims that the beasts lay their eggs in deep caves, and that they can be large enough to comfortably feed a large family for an entire day!
They are not known to cast any recognized spells.
They are not known to carry loot in locked boxes.
