|p=Previous GMs who worked on the {{PRel|Necromancer|guild}} made two statements: "All the {{PRel|Category:Immortals|gods}} hate the {{PRel|undead}}." and "Necromancers have nothing to do with non corporeal undead." I agree with thought behind those statements, but I do not feel it is my place to follow through with them. {{PRel|Cleric}}s and gods have been associated with the undead (helllooo {{PRel|Asketi's Ride}}), and GMNPC Necromancers have mucked around with godly power (helllooo Hodierna's chalice). Taking these statements as law requires that we retcon away entire events and NPCs from the face of the game, which is unnecessary and jarring. So, at its face value those old statements are as dead as Necro Consent discussions.

However, the essential element of each idea is still in play and became significant plot-points:

"All the gods hate the undead."<br />
All the gods hate the Necromancers' creation of the undead. Even gods that are kosher with cursing souls to wander Elanthia for eternity present a unified front against what the Necromancers are doing. Instead of being a flat statement of good vs. evil, the intent of the gods is now open for interpretation. Is there something critically wrong about what the Necromancers specifically are doing, or are the reasons for the gods' hatred less than righteous?

"Necromancers have nothing to do with non corporeal undead."<br />
The overwhelming majority of Necromancers create only corporeal undead, but rare exceptions have been seen. The intent of the old statement is still intact -- PCs are part of the overwhelming majority -- but this is now framed as an IC mystery instead of a policy declaration. What is the nature behind this ability, and why do only a tiny handful of Necromancers practice it?

In summary, the spirit of the old prohibitions live on, but they are now presented in a fashion that is inline with previous events and help to build Necromancer lore rather than list what it can't be.
