|p=Another {{PRel|Cyclic Spells|cyclic}} alternative I've thought about but hasn't really made me shout "Eureka!" is the notion of cyclic spells requiring more and more {{PRel|Mana|mana}} to be sustained. {{PRel|Moongate}} already has this, and it wouldn't be quite as aggressive as MG's increases, but the idea would be that the act of maintaining that kind of energy in a cyclic fashion causes a haze of magical complexity around you, causing spells to be harder to cast and/or maintain. This haze would take some time to fall away (shorter than it took to create it, though).
