|If a ship is at sea or anchored on the water, you won't get nudged/cautioned/warned if you are doing something lewd, vulgar, etc.  In this respect, boats are the same as a lockable private room.  On the flipside if your ship is moored to --anything--, even if the plank is guarded, the ship is considered a public venue so you need to watch your language and actions.
