Background
Zaran Shadowscribe was born on the 9th day of the 2nd month of Ka’len the Sea Drake in the year of the Amber Phoenix, 325 years after the victory of Lanvival the Redeemer.
Zaran was married to an empath, now deceased, with whom he had a son, Zandergast.
Grieving over the loss of his wife and tired of war, Zaran retired in 382 AV. He returned to action in 394 AV to help his son find his way in the world.
Personality
Zaran is reserved and does not make friends easily. This is more because he has difficulty relating to people than to any general dislike of people or relationships.
Zaran is fascinated with magic of all types. He collects scrolls and magic devices of all sorts.
Zaran claims that he and his son are the last direct descendents the House of the Marching Lotus. Due to his outrageous claim he is treated as a houseless elothean (senka’i neir).
Current Activities
As of 395 AV, Zaran is based in Zoluren. Unless he is in the company of this son, Zaran is likely patronizing one the local libraries and generally keeping to himself. His primary interest is learning more magic and collecting magic devices.
Interesting Tidbits
The Shadowscribe family crest is a trio of black lotus blossoms, one blossom below two adjoining blossoms forming an inverted triangle, on a purple field.
Zaran became one of the first members of the Progeny of Tezirah when sects were released.
He still has a Shadow Scribe scroll stored safely in his vault.
