Formerly hosted at Reene's page, and copying here so it's ensured to be saved; the log is from Caelumia's point of view.. Bye Turtle. We hardly knew ye.

This is the main part of the event leading up to the destruction of the Heritage House turtles by Karosti Kalestraum, leader of the Children of Kalestraum. This sort of kicked off the whole Children event about six or seven years ago. We start in the enchanting supplies shop after a lot of us had clearly run to Throne City to check out what was happening after a spooky vision. As an aside, if anyone has the vision that started this whole mess off (something about a fist rising up and grasping Grazhir) please send it to me!

[Xathvier's Curios and Oddities, Backroom] Despite being equally as large as the store proper, the backroom is far more cluttered. Stacks of dusty boxes and satchels of unknown content are piled in precarious placements, and an overabundance of shelving is covered with a two- and three-layer high menagerie of trinkets. Everything from quills, scrolls and tomes lie next to disorganized heaps of cloth, metal and leather. In the midst of this chaotic mix is an ornate marble desk. You also see an ornery Shadow Servant, a looming Shadow Servant, an obstreperous Shadow Servant, the renowned enchanter Xathvier, and a large stone archway. Also in the room: G'nar Pethian Itron, Researcher Javers, Ravennesque, Rhydiah, Champion Daython, Enchanter Sarambor, Fateweaver Mozzik, Magus Ileia, Ithlia, Lenarra, Tykyra, Seer Jairem, Eowen, Rakisla, Scholar Luq, Waylay, Fateweaver Dartlin, Orvdrue, and Shadebringer Karosti. Obvious exits: none.

Javers nods to Dartlin.

Itron chortles softly at some secret joke.

Eowen waves to the renowned enchanter Xathvier.

Orvdrue says, "Our presence here seems to be causing some disturbance, Shadebringer."

Xathvier gazes at Javers though his oversized spectacles and chuckles.

Tykyra's group came through a large stone archway.

Karosti nods to Orvdrue.

>l orvdrue You see Orvdrue Bezhiat, a Human Moon Mage. He has green eyes. His brunette hair is short and thick, and is worn loose. He has tanned skin. He is in his prime for a Human. He is clean shaven. He is in good shape.

He is holding a polished quarterstaff in his right hand. He is wearing a small belt pouch, a black robe, a silver gilt hauberk, some soft leather boots and a grey silk belt.

>l karosti You see Shadebringer Karosti Kalestraum, an Elf. He has an angular face with elegant arched eyebrows, pointed ears, silver-flecked blue-grey eyes and a hooked nose. His grey-streaked honey hair is shoulder length and curly, and is worn tied back. He has smooth skin and an emaciated build. He is very tall for an Elf. He is an Elder for an Elf. He is in good shape.

He is holding a bloodwood staff in his right hand. He is wearing a pair of black leather boots polished to a high sheen, a sturdy leather case hung from a strong silver-toned chain, a wide silver ring set with a glossy sapphire cabochon, a flowing black robe stitched with intricate silver and blue patterns along its draping sleeves, a brilliant azure mantle held closed by a series of carved obsidian buttons and some loose-fitting black trousers crafted of finespun silk broadcloth.

Karosti says, "He knows naught, regardless."

Ithlia came through a large stone archway.

Lenarra curtsies to the renowned enchanter Xathvier.

Javers sniffs the air around her.

You bow to Karosti.

You bow to Orvdrue.

Xathvier says, "It certainly is causing a disturbance. What is it you want?"

Dartlin raises an eyebrow.

Rakisla blinks.

Rhydiah casually observes the area.

Ileia says, "I doubt it"

Karosti says, "I think you know what we seek."

You ask, "Sirs, were you witness to the startling vision recieved by many mages earlier this eve?"

Javers blinks.

Rhydiah bows to the renowned enchanter Xathvier.

Itron joins Dartlin's group.

Waylay scratches his head.

Mozzik nods.

Karosti says, "Come apprentice, he knows not, the journey continues."

Xathvier says, "I know many things, but I will share none of them with the likes of you. What brings you here?"

Mozzik asks, "Itron?"

Mozzik grins at Itron.

Dartlin asks, "Karosti?"

Rhydiah says, "The visions we have all recieved, Master Enchanter."

Rhydiah smiles.

Mozzik says, "Haven't seen your ugly mug in awhile."

Shadebringer Karosti's group went through a large stone archway.

Javers curtsies.

Ileia says, "a vision of a dark shape brought us here"

Dartlin grumbles.

Rhydiah says, "They have lead us to this city, and then to this shop."

(Move a few rooms, following them...)

[Old Throne City, Dahl Aeliy] Dingy water stains left by rain spot the framework box formed from the ornately topped columns of the bank. A curving flat of deep crimson marble arches over the doorway, spared the obvious signs of water marks due to its dark color. Like all the buildings in Throne City, the bank is massive, but even it is dwarfed by the taller dome of the Palace library beyond. You also see a dark marble shop and a wooden sign. Also here: Eowen, Rakisla, Scholar Luq, Waylay, G'nar Pethian Itron, Fateweaver Dartlin, Orvdrue, and Shadebringer Karosti. Obvious paths: southeast, west.

Dartlin says, "Karosti."

Karosti asks, "Yes?"

Dartlin asks, "What is it you seek, sir?"

Karosti says, "The grazhir shard."

Tykyra's group just arrived.

Eowen says, "Oh my."

You say, "Ahah. I was right."

You cough.

Eowen wobbles, looking a bit faint.

Waylay blinks.

Dartlin asks, "May I ask for what purpose?"

Rakisla looks at Dartlin and shrugs.

Karosti says, "Yes, I feel it, we shall move on."

You ask, "What of the shards?"

Shadebringer Karosti's group just went southeast.

Dartlin grumbles.

Rakisla exclaims, "follow em!"

(More moving)

You say, "Maybe we shouldn't bother them..."

You clear your throat.

Dartlin says, "We may be of assistance."

Eowen says, "No way, I didn't gate all this way to leave."

Eowen folds her arms across her chest.

Rakisla nods to Dartlin.

Eowen grins like an idiot.

Karosti says, "Yes, follow."

Itron leans back.

Dartlin says, "Karosti, perhaps we could aid you if you tell us your purpose."

Eowen beams at Karosti!

Lenarra smiles.

Rakisla grins at Eowen.

Tykyra smiles.

Shadebringer Karosti's group just went west.

Tykyra's group just went west.

(More moving. Yay.)

[Phelim's Sanctum, Tear of Grazhir] Dominating the room is a huge white marble statue of a man leaping skyward, one arm outstretched toward a painted star on the domed ceiling. Ropes of crimson velvet cordon off the sides of the monument but allow access from the front. Occasionally, a custodian enters and carefully dusts off the stone turtle affixed on the large statue's base, as well as the silvery-white shard embedded in the floor in front of it. You also see a bronze plaque. Also in the room: Eowen, Rakisla, Scholar Luq, Waylay, G'nar Pethian Itron, Fateweaver Dartlin, Orvdrue, and Shadebringer Karosti. Obvious exits: out.

Karosti says, "Ahh yes apprentice, here it is."

Karosti says, "She was correct."

Eowen nods to Rakisla.

Rakisla blinks.

Orvdrue smiles.

Karosti asks, "What must I do?"

Karosti nods.

Rakisla ponders.

Karosti says, "I obey."

Orvdrue says, "At long last, it begins."

Dartlin raises an eyebrow.

Tykyra raises an eyebrow.

Waylay babbles incoherently.

You ask, "What is your concern with the shard?"

You ask, "What are you planning to do?"

Orvdrue says, "The Shadebringer's concern is his and his alone."

You nibble your lip thoughtfully.

You hear the voice of Jairem say, "we must stop him"

Waylay gestures. The air around Waylay begins to shimmer.

Itron quietly says, "If I don't 'See' it end right now."

You hear the voice of Jairem exclaim, "kill him!"

Rakisla says, "it concerns all of us"

Eowen sighs.

Itron glances at Orvdrue.

Orvdrue bows to Karosti.

Waylay shimmers out of sight.

Eowen says, "We shall just watch...we might learn something."

Karosti nods.

Eowen smirks.

Orvdrue says, "You will learn, oh yes."

Magus Ileia's group just arrived.

Dartlin says, "The shard is a treasure. You will forgive us if we are concerned."

Karosti places a hand on the turtle, but a guard steps up to him and says, "Heritage House has limited usage of this device to members of the Heritage Keepers only. Please contact a Heritage House member to grant you access."

Eowen just nudged Ravennesque.

Dartlin chuckles at Karosti.

Rakisla snickers.

Ileia smiles.

Karosti glances at the guard as he pulls a small round stone from his robes. He focuses on it, then casually tosses it at the guard, who becomes consumed in white fire. "I will grant my own access, thank you," he says quietly as he watches the guard succumb to the flames.

You hear the voice of Jairem say, "ha! hands off mister"

Rhydiah shrieks!

Rakisla says, "oh crud"

Eowen gasps!

Ravennesque blinks.

Dartlin asks, "WHAT?"

Rakisla raises her arms skyward, chanting.

Ileia blinks.

Rakisla says, "kill it"

You hear the voice of Jairem say, "stop him"

Karosti nods to a stone turtle.

Lenarra blinks.

Rhydiah exclaims, "Stand away! This Shard belongs to Heritage House! You may NOT use it!"

Rhydiah stands near the silvery-white shard Rolagi.

Eowen says, "No! Leave him be..."

Mozzik seems to be concentrating intently on something.

Orvdrue slips out silently.

Itron gestures. Itron's spell misfires as it bounces off of Karosti in a spectacular explosion of blue-green sparks! The rebound strikes Itron, stunning him!

Eowen winces.

Rakisla says, "ouch"

Jairem comes out of hiding. Jairem gestures at Karosti. Small motes of light flicker for a moment around Jairem, then fade.

Eowen snickers.

Mozzik gestures at Karosti. Small motes of light flicker for a moment around Mozzik, then fade.

Jairem babbles incoherently.

Itron growls ferociously!

You exclaim, "You should know better!"

Karosti gazes off into the distance.

Itron gets a S'lai short bow from inside his leather baldric.

Itron reaches into his baldric and gets a razor-tipped arrow to load his short bow.

You exclaim, "He's a Shadebringer! You can't fight him!"

Jairem makes a hissing noise that doesn't really sound much like a S'Kra Mur.

Tykyra says, "trying to mental blast a Shadebringer..."

Daython casually observes the area.

Karosti takes a step closer and swings his staff in a wide arc toward the granite turtle. As it makes contact with the carved head of the turtle, the world seems to hang in balance a moment as if time has stopped; an eternity later, a loud **CRACK** is heard as the granite splits in half.

Tykyra clucks her tongue and shakes her head.

Karosti gestures with his staff at Itron, he looks to slow down considerably.

Rakisla exclaims, "no good!"

Lenarra blinks.

You gasp!

Rhydiah gasps!

A glow -- at first very dim, then steadily growing -- consumes the shattered turtle, burgeoning in power as the energy grows wider and brighter. One by one the gems on the turtle catch the light in reflection, then glow deeply on their own: first the deep blue of the sapphire, then the sparkling red of the ruby, and last the heavy blackness of the obsidian.

Tykyra blinks.

Itron growls ferociously!

Mozzik steeples his fingers together and gestures. The air around him seems to shudder for a moment.

Rakisla ducks her head.

Eowen blinks.

Ileia gasps!

The gems' lights merge into one and then shoot out suddenly to hang in midair, expanding into a flashing spinning ball of energy. Small bursts of colorful light shoot off intermittently.

Itron says, "Garden consume you, Karosti."

Rhydiah says, "By the Gods..."

A particularly large, multicolored lance of energy strikes the silvery-white shard set in the room's floor. It impacts and breaks sharply into a chromatic shower enveloping the shard.

Jairem says, "ugh"

Dartlin glares.

Rhydiah winces.

Karosti gestures with his staff at Itron, he looks to slow down considerably.

The silvery-white shard seems to absorb the light, but it backlashes violently back to its source. The ball of energy contracts, leaving you gasping for breath as it pulls the air around you toward it. As abruptly as it began, the ball grows suddenly still for a moment, then explodes in silent beauty.

Rhydiah exclaims, "No!"

Jairem rotates a stone turtle, assigning it a new position. (LOL)

Mozzik says, "That... probably is a bad thing..."

You exclaim, "No! The shard!"

Jairem rotates a stone turtle, assigning it a new position.

The glass dome above shatters, showering the room in jagged rain just before the powerful blast rips apart the statue and walls, hurling pieces in all directions. The bright light overwhelms you as you are forcibly thrown from the area.

Ravennesque is flung out of the area by the blast. Rhydiah is flung out of the area by the blast. Daython is flung out of the area by the blast. Sarambor is flung out of the area by the blast. Eldrad is flung out of the area by the blast. Mozzik is flung out of the area by the blast. Ileia is flung out of the area by the blast. Lenarra is flung out of the area by the blast. Tykyra is flung out of the area by the blast. Jairem is flung out of the area by the blast. Eowen is flung out of the area by the blast. Rakisla is flung out of the area by the blast. The energy beats into you, knocking you backwards in great pain. [Old Throne City, Dahl Aeliy] The massive facade of the Imperial Palace dominates the street, overshadowing all the nearby buildings, structures and columns with its towering yet elegant bulk. Wide, long steps stretch between two immense stone dragons, leading up to the Palace's foyer. Each of the dragons is a mirror twin of the other, and both have their snake-like heads turned to observe those trekking up the steps, ever frozen in watchful guard. You also see a blued-steel broadsword with a silvered double ring guard. Also here: the body of Rakisla who is lying down, the body of Eldrad who is lying down, the body of Enchanter Sarambor who is lying down, and the body of Champion Daython who is lying down. Obvious paths: east, west, up, down.

Your death cry echoes in your brain as it quickly dawns on you that you have just died! Already, you feel the tug of eternity upon your spirit and you struggle to remain tied to this world.

You are somewhat comforted that you have gained favor with your God and are in no danger from passing on into the Starry Road forever.

Your body will decay beyond its ability to hold your soul in 142 minutes. Itron's bloody body comes flying into the area.

  • Itron is slain before your eyes!

Itron's short bow falls to the ground.

A low rumble at the edge of your senses builds quickly to a deafening roar as the ground beneath you begins to tremble. As suddenly as it appeared, the shockwave passes, leaving only a few light tremors which subside, leaving no apparent evidence of the sudden upheaval.

An overwhelming sense of vertigo engulfs you. The lines of lunar mana around you tremble and waver as some kind of teleportational disturbance washes over the land. The smell of burning flesh assaults you as the vision of bodies and bits of rock lying in heaps passes through your mind. The trembling of your body, echoed by the very energy around you, tells you that this vision is of neither the future nor the past.

You say, "Oooh..."

Hyret says, "meraud be merciful"
