First released during Hollow Eve Festival 458.

Tideskin is produced from the hides of giant sea eels, whose lengthy skins are prized for their durability and flexibility. A specialized Merelew curing process alters the density of the natural grain, causing dyes to penetrate the finished leather at subtly different depths. Pigment consequently settles in faint, undulating bands of lighter and darker saturation, creating an effect reminiscent of sunlight glimmering across the gentle ripples of a shallow tide pool. Undyed tideskin is naturally a pale blue, though the treated material readily accepts nearly any color dye without losing its characteristic wavering pattern. Interestingly, it also tolerates standard bleaching practices without losing the watery pattern, which causes the more pigmented parts of the pattern to turn a faint blue-grey while the dominant color is white.

Common Description

The flexible hide displays faint waves of light and dark coloration throughout its smooth grain in an undulating pattern like sunlight glimmering across the gentle ripples of a shallow tide pool.
