They can be immune to fire and still get waxed by the impact. While not as huge as you might think, there is a minor impact aspect to Fire Ball that is not present in the other spells you mentioned. After all, it's not just fire -- it's an explosion, and the force of that explosion can cause some damage even to those who would normally laugh off flames of any strength. - GM Wythor
