>>I've seen the post explaining rituals, and targeting makes sense, but is the division between Battle Preparations and Matrices just combat related spells versus non-combat, or something else?

Pretty much. A battle spell is one that has a short preparation time but also a heavily trunicated duration (topping out at a few minutes).

Nothing says they strictly have to be only Offensive spells, but that's what they're meant for.

>>How does this work with guilds that by default provide alternate spell preparations (MM - Sects)

Sect preps are not given to you by default, they're an extra perk you go out of your way to acquire when you have qualified for them. This will add the extra qualification of "have the appropriate techniques."

>>I'm trying to understand why [ Alternate Perparations ] requires stealth instead of PM.

I mentally grouped it into the "sneaky sneaky" techniques designed to obfuscate your casting. Might change it over to PM, though it doesn't matter too much since Alternate Preparations is the easiest technique in the game to qualify for.

>>Does "preparations" include non-prep things like harnessing, targeting, etc.?

Just preparations. Though that's not a bad idea for another technique later on.

>>Would it be possible to add different teachers for different mana types, at least for the Magic Prime guilds? I'd find it odd if my Cleric had to go to Moon Mage HQ to learn techniques, even if the technique guy is Mr. Awesome Pan-Mana Archmage.

I don't mind expanding it later, but at this point I'd rather not add Nth extra redundant NPCs to the already towering list of things that need to be done before this is released.

>>So is there no Sorcery Mastery tech?

Correct.

>>On another note, you guys have said that each magical guild will have the opportunity to specialize in any technique but will those guilds that have a specific focus on the same criteria see a lesser cost to some things?

Nope. Outside of some guilds receiving some techniques for free, everybody is in the same boat with them.
