>>Something is kinda bugging me, and I wanted to get it out in the open. So with LT, I was told I was capping damage on intercessors, given whatever buff I do or don't use. What's the point of using a rare weapon? What's the point of spending another dime on a quest to get gear? What's the point of spending 1 more coin on an auction to buy an "epic" item (yeah, the uber mirror flamberge is not as uber as say a greatsword,)? I guess now that you can just hit some arbitrary cap, what is the point of using anything beyond just plain steel and other basic materials? I see 0 incentive to use special metal weapons from my tests, thus making me think I wasted a lot of money on quests that I don't see any point ever going on again, other than something like maybe chakrel or a special non weapon thing (like a withdrawal box). I see no point in spending 500 plat on a haralun scimitar when a 10 plat steel one is just as good. I see a lot of tests and elaborate concepts, but I am a simple guy. If it takes me as many tosses/swings to kill w with x or y, then I am satisfied enough to know that at a certain point, z is a waste.
Maybe because you are wrong? Some folks need to take a breath and calm down. The new version has only been out a week. The cap many of us refer to us the bonus damage from OF which is 200% in most cases. Weapon materials, attack type, stats and special abilities are what form the base, which this cap modifies. Therefore there is EVERY REASON to use better weapons, have more stats, use stronger attacks and so on. Now, it is possible that numbers need to be tweaked. If a rare-metal weapon does 15% more damage than a steel weapon, some people wouldn't notice depending on what they are hunting. If you are killing enemies in 4 hits, for example, you may need as much as a 25% difference in damage to make it die 1-hit quicker. That doesn't mean its not doing more damage, it just isn't as noticeable. | |
