The vast majority of spell barriers in the brave new world will be dispellation contests: ward's Potency versus incoming spell's Integrity in an attempt to flat out extinguish the spell. Unless the spell in question is a dispel, in which case it's the dispel's Potency against the spell barrier's Integrity.

This'll still be a little wonky on the high end and may require some adjustment, but the intention is that if you want to get through a ward (or otherwise fear dispels), you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you rob your Integrity for the sake of MOAR POWAH, you run the risk of your spell splattering ineffectually against a barrier. Likewise, you can emphasize Integrity and greatly increase your chance of punching through, but with a diminished effect. On the other end, you can push your barrier's Potency to resist more conventional spells at the risk of getting flummoxed by a dedicated attempt to break your ward, or hedge your bets against that at the cost of your raw defensive potential.

At least, that's the intention. We'll see how it works out in practice.
