| Even the quirkness of the reactive stun isn't really at issue here.
This is a very fundamental design decision we made for both warding spells and other manifestations of MR: anything that has the potential to shut down a lot of everybody else's magic will also shut down your own. Worm's Mist, Shear, AC, and the Cleric's version (which is essentially the Warding Nuclear Option) all abide by this logic. Wards that do not interfere with your own casting will be the Psychic Shields of the worlds: defenses against specific threats that leave you open in other areas. | |
