This is a fairly accurate comparison of old firecat leathers compared to a new silk hauberk. Both are about the same (light) density material, and the firecat leathers are within 5% of what the new profile will be.

Overall cloth should have 10% less total protection and absorption than leather (though not necessarily spread out across stats), in exchange for weight and hindrance reduction.

With bone, leather and cloth all falling into the "light" category, so this should work nicely. Bone will be just a hair more protecting than leather, but with greater hindrance and protection to boot.
