After years of being shuffled around my project plate, Fang Cove is now live in Prime, and Platinum's opened last week.

Nothing I can write here is going to do justice to the amount of work that went into this place by myself or countless others over the years. Systems were written and re-written to accommodate a single line of messaging that I wanted to be present for that extra oomph. New creatures were created. New mechanics were made for you all to play with. Incredible levels of detail in atmospherics and items to interact with were a focus throughout. While you guys have seen a good chunk of things from tonight's release -- it ain't over yet.

We already have expansions lined up in the coming weeks and months, as time allows. We have hunting areas built that are only awaiting creatures. We have shops waiting on events to open. We have housing waiting to be placed as events lead us there. We have expansion plans for quite some time to come. You guys are going to see a city be built from the ground up, though it certainly won't be overnight, and you'll be doing some of the building.

A small list of features at release:

  • 8 creatures, 7 of which have their own dedicated hunting area
  • 4 new interactive NPCs (they fight in invasions!)
  • A NEW autohealer system that runs circles around the old guys (Fang Cove only at the moment)
  • A wide range of survival skill training (climbing, swimming, escaping)
  • New mine areas

There are many folks who I want to thank for helping with this over the years, but I'll avoid naming individuals, because I know I'll forget to mention someone. It's not a stretch to say that there have been more people on staff over the years who HAVE helped -- creating items, writing areas or messaging, coding, QC'ing, offering ideas and lore, doing events -- than those who haven't. Further, I want to thank ALAE (my old crew) for their work on parts of Fang Cove as well as the hosts and mentors for their items, messaging and more.

Lastly -- I want to thank you, the players, for your input. The 'Random Post of the Moment' threads in the Estate Holder forums weren't always quite so random, nor were many of the contests we had. This area's story came 90% from a combination of the entries from the short story contest we held several years ago. I hope that as you explore the finer details, you notice some of the ideas offered by your fellow players.

It was very much a team effort, and one that we're all very glad to see released at last. I hope you guys have as much fun playing with it as we had creating it. Suggestions for expansions and improvements are certainly welcome and encouraged.


Note: This will soon be a Premium only area. Anyone will be able to travel to Fang Cove and access a dozen rooms or so, but you won't be allowed past the area's "inn" to the shops, hunting, mining, housing, etc. after this initial preview. I will keep it open to everyone for the weekend, but early next week non-Premiums will be escorted back behind the aforementioned barrier. If you wish to explore the area and aren't a Premium player, I adivse you to do so while you can.

To get to Fang Cove, a new bit of rocks have opened up on the southeastern corner of Ratha's first tier. You take the sea mammoth (similar to a ferry) from there to Fang Cove and back.
