Yeah, it's true. The only reasonable approach would be for you to be prevented from moving your mech into a skill if you had more than some number of ranks in it. Finding that number would be hard, but it would prevent people from skyrocketing as fast as this approach.

This may actually be what I do in the end. I'm not above forcing people to make actual choices that matter.

This was in response to a comment about how someone could train both Mechanical Lore and the associated crafting skill, and then once Mechanical Lore was turned off, move the ranks to the crafting skill, thus learning twice as fast.
