>>Will braiding eventually teach nothing at all? How about Origami?

Yes

>>From the above am I to understand that you'll be turning the skills on for everyone at Zero Ranks?

The new skills will be initialized at 0 ranks. At any time (even after you gain ranks), you can move some (0-all) mech lore into one of those skills. After that, you'll never be able to move mech ranks into that skill again. The ability to move mech ranks into a skill in this way will be available forever.

It's also worth noting that when we flip on the new skills, their associated crafting systems will train the new skills and NOT mech, regardless of whether or not you've moved ranks over.

>>What happens if Im not sure what I want to do for my crafting skills, beacuse I dont want to choose until the others are at least fleshed out?

It's perfectly viable to hold onto your mech lore skill until you've had a chance to try out all of the crafting skills. However, for the ones that are released, you'll be starting at zero ranks if you don't move any mech into them.

>>Once these skills are split out, will there be any decent way to keep training mech while we wait for Alchemy and Enchanting?

Only using the ways that aren't part of crafting systems (braiding grass, etc). I'm leaning strongly to only turning those learnings off when we have a fully functional mech split.

>>Did I miss something? I thought tactics was supposed to convert from escaping...?

Yep, that used to be the equation, but it's since changed. That's why I mentioned it in the post :)

>>So now not only are survival primes losing another skill, but those of us who actually trained escaping are not getting any benefit from those ranks?

You're getting them added to your Survival bonus pool, which is arguably better than putting them into a lore-based combat skill. Now, your escaping ranks will make your other survivals train at double speed for quite a while.

>>If there isn't wouldn't that be a double dip? Because I could lock Mech Lore (until it's demise) and all three crafts and then converge them.

Yep, that's totally possible. In fact, I expect a fair number of people to do this intentionally. It's a somewhat unfortunate side effect of the way the mech split has to happen.
