After careful consideration, we have decided to increase the level cap to 200. These top fifty circles are mostly bragging rights, as you will see. The requirements will be truly punishing, and the rewards will be minimal or nonexistent. The primary goal of this increase is twofold: Provide a new goal for folks that are already at 150th, and allow "circle" to be a usable metric for high-level characters.

Also, this needs to be made absolutely clear: The existence of circles above 150 does not guarantee guild ability development above 150. Very few (if any) guilds scale reasonably to 150th circle, and as far as guild development goes, we will continue to focus our efforts toward filling this range appropriately first.

In general, your circle requirements will be doubled for the 151-200 circle range. As I said, these circles won't be easy to get. Additionally, TDPs will not be gained from circling past 150. Finally, under the current system no new ability slots will be granted.

Current system? Does that mean....

Yes. The circle cap will be going into effect before X3. We do not have a date yet, but as soon as we know we'll tell you.

A few concerns that you might have:

Will more hunting areas be added to accommodate the higher circle ranges?

This question is extremely common, but is actually not relevant. Hunting areas are based only on skills, and to a lesser extent spell slots. We're not making any changes to how skills are learned or used to increase the circle cap - The only thing that increases is the number you see when you type INFO. We will continue releasing high-level hunting throughout the game but the increase in circle cap is orthogonal to that effort. But the short answer is "yes".

Won't you just increase the cap to 250 in another few years?

To be honest, even if we wanted to, we really can't. The skills people will require to reach 200th circle will be astronomical, and even if we kept the same requirements, we'd exceed our maximum skill level possible well before reaching 250th circle.

What will the X3 circle requirements be for 200?

For almost all guilds, they will be strictly double their 100-150 requirements. Empaths and Traders (I think) will have slightly different lore reqs than double. I'll confirm this in the Empath and Trader folders soon.

What about the skill cap?

We will be capping skills off at 1750 ranks. Characters with ranks above 1750 will have those ranks absorbed into their X3 bonus pools, and 1750 will be the highest possible rank achievable. This capping will occur upon X3 conversion.
