This first release is available on a self-casting device. Feral magic is a new possibility, and the promo gift allowed a method of delivery to give out a preview item. It's not meant to be an every day item - A nifty trinket with limited application. The TE spell will not be made available to players by any other means - it's a creature spell, not a player spell - but now we do have the system in place to develop some content in that area. Sorcerous backlash does have a chance to wipe your scroll spells, and feral magic is sorcerous for all adventurers. The chance to lose scrolls is overcome with skill in arcana. That being said, WEAR as an activation verb was initially intended, but is being changed. Two people lost scrolls upon wearing the item, and I will reach out to them to replace their scrolls.
