Dancing ropes have different tiers. By 'dancing rope', I mean all rope items that have the CLIMB PRACTICE function based off of your musical ability like the one referenced here. It's all the same functionality, but different ropes can have different limitations on how often they can be used -- this is what I mean by saying they have tiers.

The breakdown on limitation types for dancing ropes is as follows:

* limited by having a number of charges
With this tier, the rope will only work a certain number of times. It could be set to self-destruct when it runs out of charges, or to just be no longer dance-y. This is the 'lowest' tier of dancing rope. I'm not aware of any specific instances where this tier has been used for an item (at least not since this script had tiers!), but I'm sure they probably have somewhere, and certainly could pop up in the future, so I added them here for completion's sake.

* limited by number of uses per day
With this tier, the rope has X number of times it can be used per day, and also Y number of total minutes it can be used within those activations. The Y minutes are hard-coded based off of the X uses, so the X uses could be different between different ropes made at this tier and that will mean the number of minutes also would be different, but the ratio of minutes to uses is going to remain the same. Basically, it's written so that a person could decide to use all of their minutes up in just one use if they really want to, or they could test the rope out for a few seconds, but still have most of their total time to split between the remaining uses per day. There is no forced cooldown between uses for this tier until all of the uses for the day are used up. This is the type that the shimmering faeweave ropes from the Kanton's quest are set up to be, and they have two uses per day.

* unlimited
This tier says what it does and does what it says: there are no restrictions on how often they can be used, or for how long that use can last. These are honestly really pretty rare, and the only one I'm certain of offhand is the one I made for a recent auction.

If you have a dancing rope, no matter its source, that doesn't seem to be performing within these limitations, or is acting funky in some other way, it really is a good idea to submit a bug report in game via BUG. There could be something that has borked in the script, or even just in your particular item itself, and sometimes it's much easier for us to track down the issue when we have the specific info that the BUG command gathers along with as detailed an explanation as you can give in the report itself. Plus, using BUG makes sure that the correct team of GMs sees the concern in the fastest way possible.
