| Okay, Abasha and I were unhappy with the current knife situation and came up with a handy alternative that Combat 3.0 made possible.
Combat-ready belt knives can potentially be used in Necromancer rituals, but we now track the ritual sanctity of the knife. Knives can be used as long as they do not hit something in combat. Once the knife has landed a hit, it is sullied and no longer suitable for ritual use. If the PC is a Necromancer, he will receive a message when he sullies the knife, while non-Necromancers will neither be explicitly told nor have any reason to care.
Note that due to the ephemeral nature of ritual sanctity -- the Philosophers have no idea what, exactly, it means or what properties are getting altered -- Necromancers do not have a magical way of telling if a knife has been sullied short of trying to use it. Caveat emptor still applies.
This is live everywhere. Thanks to Abasha for the quick QC and Socharis for logistics support.
