You can now tailor cloth armor. Cloth armor should fall slightly below leather in absorption, protection, and hindrance and well below leather on weight, when made out of cotton and similarly-dense fabrics. Materials like heavy burlap will increase hindrance and defenses, and materials like thin silk will reduce them.

Fabric stats were improved to offer some ranges for making items out of. Still working on the rare fabrics.

From the spot-checking I did with leather....

azure-scaled leathers come in around capped 6 density MC steel

gargoyle leathers come in around 5 density MC steel

firecats comes in around 4 density MC steel (orasteel)

So, feel free to compare cloth to leather, as leather appears to be right where we want it for now. I appreciate any constructive criticism regarding cloth's stats, hindrance and template choices. Things can and will change if they need to!

Padding IS required much like with metal armors. The padding's quality will slightly affect the final quality of the armor. Of course, you can always make your own (its the lowest complexity stuff in the game) if you'd like. Padding has no other effect at this time as I am still investigating the other options previously discussed here.

Good luck!
