As for what could cause it not to bonus, the strength of the bonus is dependant upon your TM skill vs the target's skill modified by the strength of the spell. If the two are too close together and/or you cast the spell with too little power, it won't be enough to grant you any bonus. The messaging is in place to let you know when you have successfully gotten a bonus to your melee attack due to the barrage ability. The details of this bonus will be revisited after the combat work is done. Right now I will be among the first (many will attempt to rush ahead of me) to admit it isn't too useful right now because most spell casts powerful enough to get the bonus at level are probably destroying the target. This will cease to be an issue when damage is brought into line vs defenses and we can potentially be more generous on the bonus, but the specifics remain to be seen. GM Oolan Jeel
