Yeah, it was so much easier to diversify weapons. I anticipate a good mix of base types such as ring, chain, and bar armor for the chain group, lamellar, scale and splint armor for the brigandine group and half, field and full armor for the plate group.
As for the specific items, there will be templates for each individual body part, groups of body parts, and for the whole body. This kind of exists now, but with many gaps we'll be filling. Like weapons, each piece of armor is likely to have several different descriptors while still having the same physical stats. So someone might wear a steel mesh coif, someone else a chain coif, and someone else a barmail cap - all capable of the same base protection. The biggest change is that individual pieces will offer protection on-par with the complete armor sets. ie, chain shirt + chain leggings versus a chain hauberk. Right now the full-body sets tend to lose out in many ways so that nobody ever wants to use them, or vice versa depending on the type of armor. The goal here is to let you decide what you want to wear, and not let the system force everyone into a single "best" armor setup. | |
